Why do England make such a big deal out of the Weather??

I don't get why England are making such a big deal out of the weather they get??

if the wind is over 50mph it is catastrophic, and it is all we here about in Scotland for days. if we get it then it doesn't get a mention.




For instance. How many people knew that in January 2007 winds off 156MPH hit the Western Isles of Scotland and a family of three generations where Killed??

156mph = a Category 5 Hurricane!!!. nothing in the news??


Did anybody know this??

I agree. Anything that happens in 'London' especially (not so much whole of England) it gets full coverage on the papers and news.

I did read about that Scottish news, I read it on the BBC website. I'm the same, I'm from South Wales and the city I'm from is the wettest city in Britain. We had a flood last year, which killed 2 teenagers because of the sea. That didn't get no 'major news coverage' at all - I think it god a little bit of page 9 in The Sun, about 2 paragraphs on it.

At the moment now it's absolutely belting it down with snow, local radio station said we're in the middle of a blizzard. I'm actually being snowed in but I bet you tomorrow it will be overshadowed by news, something like 'London finally clears up from days of snow!' or 'Manchester hit by snow storm again.' - it's never about Scotland or Wales and we're the two countries with severe weather conditions, London's got it easy.

So why are the BBC reporting about Hurricanes in America and more recently the Winds in Barcelona and not about scotland!!!!

To be honest it's only the people down south making a big deal out of it.

it's not ALL of England, just the Southeast (London and Brighton etc). Down here in Devon it has been bad, we had temperatures hitting minus 15 and 300 people got trapped on a motorway overnight cos of the blizzards and had to be rescued by the army. I think there was a tiny mention but thats it. Now we have floods down here pretty bad, yet still no mention.
