Erm...

Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight, Tonight
Vaughan Williams - Symphony No. 5 - Movement III [Romanza]

...are the two that strike me as brilliantly written songs.

That was a joke  It's great how he describes certain things in it, though.

I'd say Bob Dylan's 'Hurricane' is the best written song I've ever listened too.

Not to be pedantic, but I'm assuming you're meaning like modern music, in the era of rock 'n' roll onwards? Otherwise you're gonna have to list the entire works of many composers of centuries gone by .

Despite that, I really can't list anything, I think the song Bones by the Killers is ace, because the lyrics are good. Generally anything with a repetition in it isn't going to be one of the front runners for "greatest song ever written" (with the exception of the chorus, though not too repetitive there) uuurm I'll post a list when I can think of more things.

Bones - The Killers
Umbrella - Rihanna
Hurt - Christina Aguilera
Killing Me Softly - The Fugees
Make You Feel My Love - ADELE

These are all based on the lyrics and the meanings that you can attach to them from a personal POV.

I freaking love that song!

But in all fairness, the best song ever written is obviously Bohemian Rhapsody. By a clear mile.

Banter, who wrote it?

EDIT: And obviously Rihanna didn't "write" anything, I was more meaning that those songs by those artists are well written songs :spin2:.
