Do you agree with this statement?

I think that older horror films are much scarier the modern ones. There's more focus the dread and fear then shock tactics and needless blood I find.

What films scare you? Or used to scare you?

Here's my list:
Salem's Lot: This used to scare me loads when I was little the child vampires and Barlow were terrifying. It's aged quite badly though, Barlow's still quite freaky looking.

Evil Dead: Evil Dead used to scare me loads! I watched it again recently and it's not as bad as I remember. The effects let it down a bit at places really but I suppose if you've never seen it, it can be quite freaky in parts.

I.T: I hate clowns, all because of this film. Not scary nowadays though.

American Werewolf in London: Watched this one on television when I was younger, NEVER AGAIN! I dunno if it's aged badly in the last 13 or so years but it was TERRIFYING when I watched it. The dream sequences in particular and werewolf scenes were terrifying. His friend used to scare me so much.

Apart from Werewolf which I haven't seen since I don't think there's been any other films that have scared me.

I love all the Halloween films, I always have done.

The Dracula films (the british ones) with Christopher Lee.

I love The Shining it scares me still to this day.

I find Scream A BIT scary, with the fact you don't know what's going to happen next... like I usually guess what's going to happen these days.

I love the original Halloween film, it's aged badly but it was a trendsetter of most slasher conventions. Can't stand it's sequels though.

I have loved all the Halloween films. Michael is probably my favourite horror film killer. No-one has come up to his standards yet. He's powerful, scary, pops out of nowhere and most of all he's harsh in the way he kills you.

Jacob's Ladder. Watched it when I was like 5 late at night, and that creeped the hell out of me forever.

I watched it again a few months ago and it's still scary

Older films have always been more scary, nowadays horrors are always really gory with no plot whatsoever.

I think some of the old Public Information films were quite scary

I think that was so you took notice

What is frightening between then and now is the cost of cinema tickets

I don't agree, many old horror movies are just dumb, they are blaintly fake and you can just tell, modern horror movies look less cheap and fake and are mostly better

I think new horror films lack any brilliance, it's all gore and CGI. Some old films have lost the fear but you can't honestly say the likes of Exorcist, Shining and others pale in comparision to the likes of Saw?

CGI and blood isn't scary.

the 1st Halloween.
Scream 1
Dawn of the Dead 'Original'
Night of the Living Dead

the only modern horror films i find scary are 28 days Later and The Decent.

80's was the best for Horror genre imo.
