View Full Version : Jade is now terminally ill

STRICKEN Jade Goody is desperate to return home so she can spend her remaining time with her two young sons.

Complications from her cancer have forced the Big Brother star to remain in hospital, where saddened doctors this week told her they are now powerless to stop the disease from spreading.

But medics are hopeful the 27-year-old could yet return to her family’s Essex home and receive treatment from a community Macmillan nurse.

The tragic truth about Jade’s condition emerged on Tuesday when she asked why no more chemotherapy was planned for her next week.

Staff at Chelsea’s Royal Marsden Hospital warned her the truth would be hard to take, but she begged to be told.

A member of the medical team she trusted then gently explained that chemo was now unable to stop her cancer spreading.

Instead, doctors’ concern now is to make her comfortable and ease the pain in the months — or even weeks — before she passes away.

Jade, cruelly robbed of her hair by gruelling sessions of chemotherapy, has drawn up a will from her hospital bed leaving her estate to her sons and has been moved into a private room.

She is being comforted in hospital by mum Jackiey Budden, 50, and boyfriend Jack Tweed, 21.

But Jack has to leave at 3pm daily to get home and comply with the conditions of his prison electronic-tag curfew.

One friend said: “Jade is still fighting, but she knows in her heart there is no chance of getting out of this situation. The doctors have told her there is nothing more they can do.

“They cannot operate or give her chemotherapy. The only thing they can do is try and make her comfortable. It is going to be weeks now.

“Because she is still a young woman, the cancer cells are growing rapidly.

“A solicitor came into the hospital this week and Jade has drawn up a will leaving her money in a trust fund for the boys. Her only thoughts are for them.”

Jade, diagnosed with cervical cancer last August, has continued with media interviews despite her illness in order to make as much money as possible to leave behind for Bobby and Freddie.

Care arrangements for her sons have been drawn up between Jackiey, Jack and the boys’ TV presenter father Jeff Brazier.

The source added: “There is not going to be a happy ending — Jade needs a miracle.

“The most important thing to her now is to get home.

“She is very frightened of dying in hospital and wants to spend what time she has left at home with her boys and family close to her.”

Staff decided not to risk any more chemotherapy on Jade’s shattered body and are instead concentrating on palliative care.

They broke the news on Tuesday that earlier hopes of recovery had been dashed by the spread of the disease into her groin, liver and bowel.

Oncologists believe the disease infected her liver through the blood from her cervix — making it highly likely it has also spread to her brain and bones.

The Sun revealed earlier this month that Jade’s cancer had spread.

She sobbed: “I don’t want to die” as doctors told her the devastating news.

Awww man! This really is bad news! I feel really bad for her family and friends. I still believe it was inapropriate to keep her disease so public, but when you hear something like this, it really makes you feel horrible about criticizing anything she did since she had cancer.

I guess just pray for her! Yu never know what the future brings...

Shouldn't feel bad about it ... but be expected to be bombarded with stories in the next few days/weeks. She'll probably want to milk every last penny out of it, but lets face it we all would if it was to help our kids after we're gone.

I really can`t believe this is happening, she was so full of life (still appears to be in her documentry) and doesn`t deserve this at all, shes so young and has everything to live for.I can`t express how sad it makes me to think that in a short amount of time shes going to be gone.I`ll be absolutly devastated when I hear of her passing,I know I don`t know her but with someone like Jade you sort of feel like you do know her, shes the most famous bb contestant ever and I think us bb fans owe alot to her,she helped make the show the success it is today and I`m thankful to her for that.I think shes an amazing human being and parent, how she`s got through what she has in life is astounding and she doesn`t get the credit she deserves.
I just hopes she lives as long as she possibly can and her last days are everything she hopes for and that her two boys grow up to have the life she would have wanted for them.I know things happen like this all the time and just becasue its Jade doesn`t make it any worse but personally I`ve never had much experience of death, well up until recently anyway and it really does make me sad.

This is sad news, Jade isn't much older than me and it's a shock to see her going through this. I've worried about getting older and being 30 in a few years' time but it's sad that Jade possibly won't live to see 28, let alone 30 so it makes you realise how precious life is really.

Best wishes to Jade and those around her, I wouldn't even have supported her had I not been a Big Brother fan.

Has she told the kids yet?

I think it's disgusting she's runs straight to the press with every bit of news while her kids have been fed lie after lie after lie and aren't being prepared for the inevitable at all.

Yes, it's not an easy thing to tell your kids, for anyone, but when you're selling your story to anyone who'll pay for it, you have a responsibility to ensure the kids here it from you, not the News of the World.

I can't begin to imagine how Jade and her family must be feeling right now. I struggled to read the story today because it really is sad to think how we all know Jade for being bubbly and friendly and to see her now lying in a hospital bed knowing she'll never be that person again :bawling: I think she's been so brave for her kids because when she speaks about them she says how she's always strong for them and it must break her heart when her boys ask her questions because she doesn't want to tell them she's dying.

Jade we are all thinking of you and you will always be rememered for the bubbly girl we saw all those years ago when you first shot to fame. God bless. x

lie after lie???shes hardly been lying to them, shes said herself she just doesn`t think theres any need to use the word cancer. Her children are well aware their mum is sick but for gods sake they are children, what do you want her to say 'hey kids mummys going to be dead by the time your next birthday comes around!'
Im sure they wont find out about Jades illness or death by the News of the World, why would they?Surely their father or another family memeber will break the news unless Jade decides to explain whats going to happen to her herself in the coming weeks or months.
At the end of the day were no in Jades position and I`m sick of hearing people criticize her :rolleyes:shes dying and there her children and its her illness ,surely can we not just let her do it her own way and lay off on the criticizing :puzzled:

To be fair, I don't know many kids that read newspapers. Especially NOTW.

I suppose most kids prefer The Observer.

Let's make no mistake about it - this is tragic (for her and her family) and it is never easy to tell anyone such news, especially children, but as Jade and her publicist have let it play out in the public eye, it's inevitably opens up every decision they make to criticism.

My concern with it now shifts away from Jade and towards those who might be willing to exploit it for their own gain - (you know, the ones who dubbed her "racist bully Jade" a few months ago). It benefits absolutely no one to let Jade's death play out in front of the cameras - and I would hope that someone, somewhere in the production company would have the ethics to realise that, however willing Jade (who let's not forget, is in a very vulnerable position right now) might appear to be.

A few years ago we had the absolutely sickening situation where the press were camped outside a hospital waiting for George Best to die, and then following his funeral as if he were a head of state. I think the era of the "Hello! Funeral" needs to be stopped before it's allowed to begin.

Its going to benefit her kids. I'm glad shes milking every last penny out of this. Lets not forget away from forum land Jade must be pretty popular otherwise she wouldn't have lasted this long in the media, so there are going to be a hell of a lot of people interested in this story and following it almost religiously. Thats because of the rags to riches story, and a lot of people can probably identify with her.

Other benefits include that smear tests are now significantly up.

Shaun
15-02-2009, 05:23 PM
Well yes it would because:

a) None of my family members are racist bullies.
b) None of my family would use their illness for endless, shameless publicity.
c) They'd be a member of my family. Jade Goody isn't.
d) Actually I don't need a d.

What a stupid comment. Of course it'd be ****ing different if this was a member of my family. Did you not even twig that when you typed it?

And yeah, it does show what personality I have. I'm a very hateful person. And I don't really care about what Matt08 has to say about that.

a) That was in the past, she's been forgiven by the people involved. She still doesn't deserve to die.
b) She's already said that she is using publicity to make money for her children's future. Plus her publicity has done good because numbers of smear tests are up.
c) Regardless if she is your family member or not, she doesn't deserve to die. What has she ever done to you?

I don't care what you think of me either, and I agree that you are a very hateful person.

Jade isn't a racist bully. The police picked up on the case after the series ended, went through endless hours of footage and found nothing to suggest racism.

I think its made even worse by that Jade's live has been reality TV since 2002 and whether you like her or not a lot of people identify with her, some might feel like they *know* her so for it to happen to her is like it happening to someone they have known for years.

At what cost though - being the kids of the woman so addicted to publicity she allowed herself to die on TV. That'll make them real proud I'm sure.

Seriously, I hate some people - but its not like she has killed anyone, she doesn't deserve death, and I dont think you can basically ':)' about someones death.

I can't even think of something to say to that TBH.

I've never thought much about Max Clifford, but I'd have thought at least when it came to a situation like this he might know where to draw the line, but no, it appears what's left for Jade's life is now up for auction.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2009/feb/16/jade-goody-cancer-max-clifford-television

It's hard to feel sorry for Jade Goody the mother, the daughter, the person, when Jade Goody PLC is still being shoved down our throats. The justification that it is for the kids may be understandable too some, but it's just awfully misguided IMO, and if anyone had the kids real interests at heart, a stop would be put to it.

There is clearly a lot of interest in this story otherwise it wouldn't be as big as it is, and it wouldn't be making so much money, money that she is leaving for her kids to give them a good start in life, something she never had. Why should she not be allowed to do that just because of a few cynical people on forums? In the wider public, this is quite a big story and a lot of people are interested in it. Maybe its because shes lived in the spotlight of the media for the past few years. Because of her background a lot of people feel they know her and can identify with her. The media latched onto Jade, not the other way around. They have followed her for years, she hasn't engineered it all until after the race row when she started to work with Max Clifford. If the media hadn't done what they have done in the past few years then perhaps we wouldn't be hearing of the story in the depth we have. The media love Jade, so whether or not she speaks out they are going to publish stories anyway.

So you're going to forget the small detail that the media were very nice to her for 5 years, then had a go at her for being racist then forgave her about a month later and it was business as usual?

Jade is a product of the media. If she wasn't selling her stories then she would be in the papers anyway with the "source".

I totally agree with you, I think some of the comments that have been left in this thread are disgraceful. I don't think people realise that she is actually a person just like anyone else.

If people don't have anything considerate to say on this subject then they shouldn't post at all. Some people are just nasty, vile twats.

It's ironic that probably the first BBUK housemate to die will be the most famous one of the lot.

I was going to be tactful but so many seem so willing to cast aside Jade Goody and think about....

A hard done by 27 year old single parent bringing up two kids on her own who is now dying of cancer.

The thing is, we are remembered for what we do in life.

It's Jade Goody who's dying, not an innocent struggling single parent!

The very same Jade Goody who bullied her way through her TV career, excusing her offensive racial remarks because she's mixed race (apparently only white people can be racist) who cheated millions with her fitness video!

If Jade has to be a martyr to cervical cancer and millions of people without the cerebral capacity to talk about anything important decide to get regular medical checkups then that's a good thing but don't for a second kid yourself that Jade is a good person or needs anymore of your money.

If you like her you'll refuse to buy/watch that last bit of media exploitation so that maybe- she'll only be thinking of her family in those last days. Truth be told her fans are what will ruin her last moments.

Its also quite ironic that Big Brother really shot into the mainstream with series 3 (and Jade) and atm is a dying brand, just as Jade is dying too.

some of the comments in this thread are disgusting tbh even though i'm no fan of hers nor do i agree with the being in media spotlight since finding out she has it its still incredibly tragic i wouldnt wish cancer on anybody i lost my uncle cos of cancer and my best friends mum has had breast cancer twice its a horrible horrible disease and lets not forget those 2 little boys who will be left with no mummy
jade is not much older than me and it really puts things into perspective everybdy should live each and every day to the full cos you just never know whats round that corner
i know someone said something about it (sorry cant remember who) about that smear tests have been on the up since jades story but its still not enough as the age is from 25 yrs plus they every 3 yrs at the moment which i think needs to be changed and if there is something good to come out of something so sad then it has to be a change in the age etc for smears

I think screenings should start at the age of 18 and they should be available every year. Cancer can develop and spread very quickly.

i agree with this as before 18 the cells are so changable so can give false results but even if the age and time is lowered there needs to be better information for girls/women so they understand the need of why they have to have them done and so on cos speaking to my female friends some of them have left it 6 months but as has been shown in jades case 6 months can flip your life upside down i also have friends who are scared of going and this also needs sorting so that women are in the know
