View Full Version : The TiBB Book Club

This can be moved into the Books section when we get one
How It Works
- Every month a person can chooses three books. The rest of the club then decide which of the three they want to read. It rotates every month so each person gets a chance choose a book.
- We then have a month to either buy it or lend it from the library and read it.
- At the end of the month we open a new thread to review it and we all share our thought on it.
Then the cycle repeats itself.
Rules
- You can join the club at any time, though it might be easier to start at the beginning of a month so you have time to read the book.
- When choosing your three books try to keep them all of a reasonable length and varied in style/genre so that there is something for everyone.
- If you don't complete the book in time, then just start the new book. Don't feel pressure to finish it, we all read at different paces, though I think a month is a fair amount of time for both those who read slower and those who are faster.
I started this because when I mentioned it before I got some positive feedback. This is not a game as such, it;s just something to keep us busy.
I'll sign up. This sounds fun - but if I don't like the sound of the book/genre of it, is it okay if I still read the reviews on it but not read it personally as I don't want to read something I won't enjoy.
Otherwise, I'm in.

Yeah, you don't have to commit to anything, you can pick and choose the months you do depending on if you don't have the time or don't like the book. I would encourage people to keep and open mind tho, when i did this before I got some books that I initially thought I'd hate but actually quite enjoyed it.

Good! What are our 3 choices or who's picking?
How long are we gonna get to read the book? For people like me, I work most days, quite late in the night... so any spare time is a luxury and I don't want to cram all my luxury time into reading a book.

Some one didn't read the rules :nono: A month.
If everyone thinks that is far too short then we can make it longer.

No a month is good. I did read them I just couldn't be bothered to edit (oops)
Anyway, I'm in.
Problem -- I'm not sure if certain books have age limits? For example: Graphic horrors or something.
Wouldn't some members have problems getting these? Unless their parents bought it.

A month sounds good to me but i suppose you could always take longer if you liked and then power read to catch up on the next one lol.

As he was the first to ask, GoKart will be choosing the book for March. He will be posting his three choices soon and we can then decide which one we like best.

Byzantine, was that about constantonople? Yeah, Constanine rebuit a ancient greek city called Byzantium and named it Constantinople, his new christian capital that many in rome hated! Years later it became capital of the eastern roman empire (greek orthodox) as rome stayed as the capital of the western empire (latin catholic)

It has less than 300 pages. That won't take me long to read at all, I suggest maybe opening the book review thread before the end of March because I'm sure a lot of people will have finished it well before then.
