CELEBRITY HOUSEMATES FACE GRUESOME TASK TO WIN THEIR WEEKLY SHOPPING

Big Brother will set the eight celebrity housemates their first 'evil' task this afternoon, when they are told to "Spin for their Dinner."

The celebrity housemates have no idea that today (Saturday 8 January) they will have to complete an assault course in order to receive items from their weekly shopping order.

This is no ordinary assault course. As promised, Big Brother has not "gone soft" on the celebrities and after less than 48 hours in the house they will be faced with their first gruesome task. Obstacles standing in between them and their weekly shopping include a compost skip, an abattoir and a giant ashtray.

The celebrity housemates will have a time limit in which to complete the course and to collect as much as possible of their weekly shop from inside the obstacles around the course. Each obstacle contains numerous items of shrink-wrapped shopping and any shopping successfully collected at the end of the task will be their supply for the next week.

The course:
Obstacle 1: The Roundabout
Obstacle 2: The Run-around
Obstacle 3: The Abattoir
Obstacle 4: The Compost Skip
Obstacle 5: The Egg Box
Obstacle 6: The Ashtray
Obstacle 7: The Milking Machine
Obstacle 8: The Shopping Baskets

1: Seven of the housemates will start on the Roundabout while one housemate spins them. The Roundabout must be kept at a minimum speed of 17rpm, as shown by the speedometer.

Then, one by one, the housemates must complete the course while the others continue to spin on the Roundabout.

2: Each housemate must Run-around the pole, while holding onto it. They must complete 10 laps around the pole. The housemate must count out loud as they complete each lap.

3: Next housemates must negotiate the "Abattoir's" spinning discs suspended over a vat of a blood-like-substance. Hidden amongst the overhanging offal are items from the shopping list, the housemates must reach up and face the offal in order to retrieve the shopping.

4: The housemates must then climb into the Compost skip and rummage around amongst the rotting vegetables for items of their shopping.

5: Next housemates must step into every hole in the giant Egg box, items of shopping can be found amongst the eggs, feathers and egg nog.

6: Housemates must then crawl through the giant Ashtray overflowing with alcohol and cigarette butts. Items of shopping will be found amongst the ash.

7: Then housemates must go through the Milking machine and find items of shopping floating in the rancid milk.

8: Finally housemates should deposit the shopping that they have collected into their respective Shopping baskets.

Housemates can carry the food in any way that they wish to. After the task is over Big Brother will check the shopping and replace any damaged items.

The task will take place on Saturday 8 January, and be broadcast live on E4 at approx 3.15pm. Highlights will be included in the 10pm Channel 4 programme on Sunday 9 January.

CELEBRITY HOUSEMATES LOSE HALF THEIR WEEKLY SHOPPING IN TASK

This afternoon (8 Jan) Big Brother set the eight celebrity housemates their first 'evil' surprise task - to complete a revolting assault course in order to receive items from their weekly shopping order.

Only Jeremy, Brigitte, Kenzie and Lisa completed the course correctly and within the time limit, so only the shopping items retrieved by these four housemates will be provided for the house this week.

Caprice failed because the speed of the roundabout was not maintained during her turn. Bez failed because his safety equipment was not worn correctly throughout. And Germaine, the last housemate to attempt the course, did not complete within the time limit.

In a final twist, John, who had not been required to complete the course because he was given the task of maintaining the constant speed of the roundabout, was offered a bonus round. He successfully completed parts three to seven of the course and retrieved three ping-pong balls from different obstacles. The housemates were therefore rewarded with the bonus prize - the key to the alcohol fridge for the evening.

The celebrity housemates were given just 15 minutes for seven of them to complete the obstacle course and collect as much of the weekly shopping order as possible before putting the retrieved items in individual shopping baskets at the end.

Once dressed in their protective clothing, helmets, elbow and knee pads and numbered tabards, Jeremy read out the instructions.

Housemates one to seven started the course on the Roundabout while housemate eight, John, pushed them. John was required to keep the Roundabout at a minimum speed of 17rpm, as shown by the speedometer.

Then, one by one, the housemates completed the course while the others continued to spin on the Roundabout. The order was as follows;

1. Caprice
2. Jeremy
3. Brigitte
4. Kenzie
5. Lisa
6. Bez
7. Germaine

Starting the course, Caprice said; "It's disgusting, urghhhh. This is so gross." However, she still managed to complete the course.

Jeremy had no problems completing the course and Brigitte whilst complaining of feeling "really dizzy" was also successful.

Kenzie was almost sick, but completed the course. Meanwhile, John quite rightly was more worried about Germaine who, sitting on the roundabout, vomited before even starting the course.

Bez was next and then, with only two minutes of the time limit left, Germaine finally got off the roundabout and attempted the course - but the 15 minute time limit was up before she got to the final obstacle.
