Queen for the day (or three)
The Big Brother housemates were set their first weekly task this morning and it's set to be three days of medieval torture in The Court Of Big Brother.

Ex Radio 1 DJ Lisa I'Anson is to be waited on hand and foot by her fellow housemates after she was chosen to read a scroll attached to an arrow fired into the garden at 11.00am.

Queen Lisa's first job was to assign specific roles to her fellow housemates who had now become her ‘courtiers’.

As Queen, Lisa is not permitted to lift a royal finger for the duration of the task.

Caprice has become the Royal Dresser and will dress and undress the Queen every morning and evening. In addition to tasting her food.

Germaine Greer was assigned as Royal Cook and will prepare all the royal meals.

The role of Court Jester went to John McCririck who will attempt to amuse the Court with jokes and merriment. John's penchant for ridiculous outfits has cast doubts over the need for a costume.

Kenzie was selected as Royal Minstrel, although how he will cope without his junior chav massive remains to be seen.

Jeremy and Bez claimed the unenviable role of Royal Footmen, they are required to carry the Queen on the royal sedan chair whenever she enters the ‘courtyard’ (the garden). To Bez's horror a Royal maraca shaker was apparently not a requirement.

Finally Brigitte is set to become The Royal Warmer, she will warm the royal toilet seat before the queen wishes to use the toilet and must also warm the queen’s bed at night. One can only imagine how it feels to see Ms Nielsen sprawled across your bed last thing at night, Mr Stallone our heart goes out to you.

TASK ANNOUNCEMENT
Sunday 9 January 2005, 12.00pm

LISA IS CROWNED QUEEN OF THE BIG BROTHER HOUSE
IN THE FIRST WEEKLY TASK

Big Brother has set the eight celebrity housemates their first weekly task this morning, when they are thrown into medieval The Court Of Big Brother...and Lisa has become Queen for three days. This means she is to be waited on hand and foot by her fellow housemates for the entire period. So how will they cope with the enforced hierarchy, the testing tasks and some very silly costumes? For their efforts, Big Brother promises to reward the housemates "beyond their wildest dreams."

At 11.00am, Lisa was chosen by her fellow housemates to read a scroll attached to an arrow fired into the garden. She went into the Diary Room and discovered that this action had led her to automatically be crowned queen of the Court of Big Brother. Added to this, she was asked to assign specific roles to her fellow housemates, now 'courtiers'.

The Roles:
·Queen: Lisa's new role is to not lift a royal finger.
·Royal Dresser: chosen by Lisa, Caprice will dress and undress the Queen every morning and evening and taste her food.
·Royal Cook: Germaine will prepare all the royal meals.
·Court Jester: to amuse the Court with jokes and merriment. This role has been assigned to John.
·Royal Minstrel: Kenzie will entertain the Court with music and song.
·Footmen x 2: Jeremy and Bez will carry the queen on the royal sedan chair whenever she enters the 'courtyard' (the garden).
·The Royal Warmer: Brigitte will warm the royal toilet seat before the queen wishes to use the toilet. They will also warm the queen's bed at night.

Overnight, the living area and garden have been dressed with medieval props, including stocks and a flagpole. The housemates have also collected their costumes.

Next, the Queen will read out the rules of the designated task to the Courtiers. Once this is done, the Queen is called to the Diary Room and given a complete file of all the rules for the task.

The Court Of Big Brother: Coat of Arms Chore
The Courtiers (all housemates except the Queen) have one hour to design and paint a section each of a large shield, which should represent the Queen. They also have to come up with a motto, which they must write on a piece of parchment to be attached to the shield. Once completed, two courtiers must then present the Queen with the Coat of Arms and explain the reasons behind the finished design and the motto.

Rules:
The following rules must be adhered to. Failure to comply with any of the rules or refusal to take part will result in housemates failing the task.

*All courtiers must participate in the task. The shield is divided into 7 sections. Each courtier must paint one section.

*The 7 sections that make up the shield are detachable and each section can be removed for painting. Once completed, the sections must be reassembled to form the shield.

*The entire surface of each section of the shield must be covered with paint.

*The motto must be at least 3 words long and must be written onto the scroll attached to the bottom on the shield.

*Courtiers have 1 hour to complete the Coat of Arms and write the motto.

*During chores Courtiers and Queen are exempt from the usual Court Rules and the Individual Rules relating their role, although they must still wear full costume.

*Once completed, two courtiers must then present the Queen with the Coat of Arms and explain the reasons behind the finished design and the motto.

The Court Of Big Brother: Pheasant Plucking Chore

The Courtiers (all housemates except the Queen) have one hour to pluck two pheasants each in the garden.

·The Queen is called into the Diary Room to receive the task instructions and will read them out to her seven subjects. Once the storeroom is open, the hour-long chore begins.

Rules:
·All pluckers must remain in the designated plucking area until everyone has finished plucking. They must pluck facing the hot tub area.

·Every single feather must be plucked on each bird except for feathers on the head and neck above the tape.

·Once pluckers have finished their first bird they must untie it, place it on the table and string up another bird from the table to pluck.

·Pluckers must attempt to put the plucked feathers in the barrels provided.

·Big Brother will provide protective aprons and waterproof plasters. Courtiers must wear aprons for the duration of the task and cover any grazes they may have on exposed skin with the waterproof plasters.

·When the hour is up, the plucked pheasants must be left on the table in the courtyard.

·Courtiers are not allowed to leave the plucking area before Big Brother has announced the end of the chore even if they have finished plucking their 2 pheasants before the time is up.

·Courtiers must all wear the aprons provided for the chore.

·Big Brother will also provide antibacterial wash and paper hand towels. Pluckers must wash their hands and face thoroughly with the antibacterial wash once they have finished handling the birds. They should use the disposable hand towels to dry themselves. These should be placed directly into the rubbish.

·Courtiers and Queen Lisa are reminded that during chores they are exempt from the usual Court Rules and the Individual Rules regarding their role, although they must still wear full costume.

These two tasks will take place on Sunday 9 January, and will be broadcast live on E4 this afternoon (times TBC). Highlights will be included in the live 9.00pm Channel 4 programme on Monday 10 January.
