Pete would like to thank fans and friends for the lovely cards and flowers they sent He would also like to more fully explain the situation.

Pete has suffered from severe and rapid formation of kidney stones since 2004. Each time He had to have them surgically removed, as they were too large and multiple to be broken up and passed: on two previous occasions they caused renal failure by blocking the kidney and required emergency surgery. A device called a stent, which is a tube from the kidney to the bladder, and a catheter in the penis were necessary to allow him to pass fluids. Since September of last year he has been totally housebound with severe pain in his back and extreme dehydration, unable to swallow solid food without huge amounts of water which rapidly passed thru him 24 hours a day leaving him unable to get any sleep.

Countless visits to his doctor got him useless and vast amounts of antibiotics for a non existant urinary infection and no investigation for the extreme dehydration other than advice to eat wine gums. By November the pain had become so unbearable that the only way to get just minimal (as in 90 minutes) sleep was to take large amounts of addictive sleeping pills and painkillers and cut liquids down, which worsened the dehydration and resulted in severe headaches ,dizziness, weakness and confusion. He was steadily getting weaker and in more pain, and after a long wait was finally sent for an x ray of his stomache and then after a longer wait an ultra sound scan which showed 5 stones in right kidney, 3 or 4 in left kidney.

He was transferred to another hospital to see a specialist surgeon and control the pain, fluid loss and sodium loss. He has been examinined by endocrinologists who suspect the dehydration thirst and fluid loss to be diabates insipidus. He currently is on 1 litre of water per day and passing up to 9 litres and that's just through the night. It comes from all the major organs, heart, brain, liver etc. His sodium levels are very low too. It's a very dangerous condition: it can lead to seizures, so he's blood tested four times daily and closely monitored. They also suspect a rare condition called Sjögren's Syndrome, as he produces zero saliva and tears, and he's unable to swallow solid foods without gulps of water. All treatable but treatment of each separate condition contradicts the other so it may be complicated and lengthy and unpleasant.

Those of you who think my previous posting 'backfired' or was a plea for sympathy must be in need of a similar experience. And so called experts who commented negatively need to do extensive medical research or keep their mouths shut. After all I saw a so called medical expert from September until last week and he said it was an undiagnosed infection and more recently a tummy bug ? Experts and opinions are just like arsholes, everybody has one. I'm feeling ill, in pain, frustrated and afraid as I also have to have a second biopsy for bladder cancer. Not a word an unwell person who has been worried sick, unable to leave the house or work for a very long time and been misdiagnosed countless times wants to hear when they are stuck in hospital.

Pete

Get well soon Pete x

To be fair, how many Jade threads were there? Why didn't someone just make one Jade thread?

Pete is really ill, and it's so sad =[
