To be fair, if it doesn't improve this year. There will be no point continuing it. But axeing it rather than fixing it is NOT the answer.

And hopefully, if it gets picked up by sky or five, it will continue to have it's good years. With a broadcaster that wants it, not one that's lumbered with it.

We can't really take this as concrete proof. It is The Sun we're talking about. But I think BB has had it run to be honest. There's no point dragging out the inevitable, we knew it was coming, and I have to agree with the 'Producer', it would of been nice to end the show on this series.
Until we have solid confirmaton from C4 however, I will take this with a pinch of salt. Although we do know the contract is ending next year so there may be some truth in it.

The quote pretty much says they are commisioned to do one more, but they would have liked to end at 10 instead

You never know!! it could be a good thing having an end date to work towards!! ::shrug::

Take 'Lost' for example, Season 1 great, season 2 good, season 3 & 4 pointless,

Get's an end date. (between 4th & 5th season)

Season 5 great again!!:shrug:::

PS. check out my new eye for BB10!!

They're quoting Angela Jain, who's in charge of Big Brother at C4, not some random, un-named insider and The Sun are pretty reliable with their pre-BB news anyway. They had Rex, the blind housemate and the black van entries last year confirmed before anyone else.

Channel five will bid for it.. They can show spin-offs and live feed on fiver.. There is still a demand for the show!

Thing is.. as someone pointed out I think on D.S., channel 4 may have a clause in the contract stopping other channels taking it on for a year or two after they stop airing it.. in which case, interest could wane from the other channels.

Its too early to make a decision, anything can with the ratings in the next 2 years which could easily reverse the decision
I can easily see Five of ITV picking it up on the cheap

I'm not really surprised, tbh. I hope it takes a year or two off then move to another broadcaster, such as ITV.

It's a tired format, It needs a break really, a few years break. Then come back with a fresh format.
I didn't bother with BB last year because it was packed with people i couldn't like, no likeable people.
The last BB i've watched throughout and enjoyed was BB6

amydropdead_x
26-03-2009, 08:42 AM
I agree, I think BB should have a few years break then make a comeback with improvements and a new format!
I didn't really watch it last year, and usually I'm really into it

i agree with you on the fact it's still to early to decide, BB10 could be the best series ever, very unlikly but still, then they might keep it. I hope they get a new contract.

If its true then I don't think its the end of BB by a long shot ... if BB isn't picked up by a smaller channel (or even ITV with the trouble they're in) then I'll be in shock. If Big Brother itself doesn't come back, I can guarantee that a show with the same format will air.

And what a stupid attitude to have - confirmation C4 aren't even willing to give BB10 a chance to make some sort of recovery.

A shame for Jack Whitehall that Big Mouth is being trimmed down - and typical the one edition they keep is on the night they need it least. I'd rather it went completely.

Also if it's an hour long on eviction night that's means we miss even more post-eviction live streaming - and I doubt it going earlier in the week means we'll be live at the house half an hour earlier either. I imagine it'll give E4 the excuse to stick something else in the 11pm slot and hence most nights coverage from the house won't begin until after midnight.

ITV and Five are skint - financially they're in an even worse position than C4.

ITV aren't going to snap it up as they're not going to air it at 9pm every night for three months, and it's not worth them airing it after News at Ten or over on ITV2.

If they axed BBLB and BBBM I would not miss them, and to be fair, I would rather just watch one show with lots of effort put in, instead of wasting money spreading it out and having 3 ok shows, lets just have one AMAZING one... I dont watch the spin off's at all, I like making my own decision about housemates up, its part of the fun.

Because it would swallow up half of ITV2's budgets - and ITV2 is actually doing pretty well without the burden of Big Brother anyway.

You're just assuming it would only be on ITV2.

Theres nothing stopping ITV2 having the daily show whilst ITV1 air some kind of weekly round up, perhaps the eviction. ITV2 also wouldn't have to show BBLB, Big Mouth etc whilst one of their many Freeview channels could show streaming.

They don't have to copy what Channel 4 do.

No it's not. Grand Designs is actually their biggest ratings hit. Relocation, Relocation beats it too, and if you consider Celeb BB's figures (and we shouldn't just forget them because it's convenient) a heck of a lot of programmes can match the 2.5m too.

I think that ITV or Channel Five will take it on after the series in 2010 (BB11). The show still has 3 or 4 million viewers and would be a fantastic edition to Channel Five especially. Anyway, I will enjoy the next few series of BB and wait until nearer the time until I care about what's happening with the show.

Since she'd have liked BB10 to be the last, and is only doing BB11 because of contractual obligations, I think short of a massive turn around for the show in viewing figures (which with more of the budget on Davina and George back presenting BBLB, isn't likely to happen), we can safely assume that BB11 is indeed the last.

...she didn't say that she wanted BB10 to be the last, or that they're only doing BB11 because of contractual obligations?

She told you:

As I explained to the Sun, our contractual obligation runs until the end of the next year so it is too early for negotiations beyond that.

The Sun ran the story, saying that she wished BB10 could be the last but the contract prevented it. Her email to you explains that she told The Sun that it's only too early for negotiations to begin.

Not to mention the fact that, if it was definitely the case that BB11 was going to be the last, it'd have been in/on a heck of a lot more papers/websites than The Sun by now. They would most definitely have issued a press release.

As much as I agree with everyone else that BB11 is highly likely to be the last, there is no concrete proof it will at the moment.

If BB11 does turn out to be the last I do not think it will appear any where else it will be gone for good....

The format has now been corrupted and abused by too many sources.......ie..The betting industry and viewers voting to win bets rather than in the interest of the program run......Abusive responces from the public with yob type booing and vulgarities in programs like BBBM........

The show has been dumbed down to encourage children to watch and all the imature results that follow with voting patterns........The above is the reason the format has been destroyed to the point no other company with half a brain cell would touch it with a 20 light year barge pole......

If it did go to Sky or whatever as after all maddness is well embedded in Britain....It would inevitably be ruined by cost cutting and inexperience......After all its pretty much ruined now by a company that has had years of experience with it.........

If a company that takes it on didn't ruin by any miracle then the public would continue to ruin it with their sabotage voting and betting habits......

Depends whether channel 4 have it in their contracts that Endemol can't sell it to anyone else for a period of time. It's usually the case with big shows (well, big show when this was signed), especially flagship ones.

They've been moving to Hammersmith every year since BB8

I remember last year or the year before Heat took a picture of some random industrial building and said it was the new BB house. They pointed to bits of metal in the compound and said it was parts of the diary room :laugh2::laugh2::laugh2::laugh2:

That's the thing - the only time I ever read about them moving to Hammersmith was for BB9 and that didn't happen...

Land The Sun said they had was being redeveloped as a shopping centre

Heat's just looked like some random warehouse

I don't think they were ever moving to Hammersmith and with the future unsure and with budget cuts I doubt they're going to move in the near future if the show stays on air
