Today at school, instead of doing PE, I wanted to do my IT coursework, so i went to my head of year and she said no and told me to do it after school. So then i got 2 of my other friends (that were also behind in IT) and we told our IT teacher if we can stay and she said that we could. We told her if she can inform the PE teachers that we were doing IT instead of going to PE, she said, "Im busy right now so we just assumed she would tell the PE teacher later" .So after we finished our coursework we didnt know what to do (as we did IT for 1 lesson and it was a Double PE lesson), so while we were making our way to PE we saw our head of year./.... she told us "Where are you 3 supposed to be?" but as we were kind of round teh corner, we turned back and ran from our head of year.

Then we got to PE and we told the teacher wher we had been, she then went mad about the IT teacher not telling the PE teachers and said "You cant just skip the lessons whenever!" (even though there was only 5 people in PE as everyone was doing cwk for eveything else).

And then the PE teacher told us "Im going to have to talk to Miss Kenny about this and then we'll see" (Miss Kienny is the head of our year that we ran away from!).

I have her for PSHE tomorrow as well, so us 3 are going to get told off for running away from her and not listening to her when she said go to PE.

Do you think im in teh right?? Everyoen skips PE to do their cwk!! Doing it is better than doing PE when there, GCSES are more improtant

PE is the most important lesson there should be more PE lessons in school it Can motivate you to do things Like Work instead of sitting in all day on your consoles.

I like PE, but when you have a choice of going ti PE with only a handful of people there and trying to finish your cwk, I would rather not go to PE.... the thing that annoys me is that PE teachers seem to think PE is the most important lesson, well its not!! Its good to keep you healthy, but i do other stuff to keep me healthy!

I am a hyprocrit because i hardly done P.e in year 11 but there would be less fat children if P.e was more structured.

Its good but ours, all we done was football all year 11 every single lesson other than the last 6 weeks.

dont worry about it at the end of the day they are just teachers.

I skipped PE loads of times and that wasnt for courswork it was because i just couldnt be botherd to do it most of time. that and the other boys were complete twats.

I use to be worried what teachers would do or say when i was at school but now i look back i think why the hell did i listen to any of them.

all they can do is yell at you and moan like a typical teacher. Just shrug it off.

When teachers use to moan at me going 'o your a disgrace to the school blah blah blah' i was just like 'yeah woteva can i go now' cos they cant really do much.

Haha, freaky I had the same problem today.

The school show is currently taking up the sports hall so the boys are forced to go outside in the rain and do football every Thursday.

I usually get away with standing on the side, but my PE teacher is really starting to get annoyed at a few of us who never do it and never make an effort to do it.

I was reluctant to do it in today because my hair blows everywhere and i look disgusting when that happens. And for the fact I hate it. So I thought I'd go to I.T and do my coursework for that, but i got caught sneaking off, but it was funny.

Teacher: Why aren't you doing PE?
Me: It's cold and wet and its football.
Teacher: Well i have to stand out here all day, you can put up with one hour.
Me: But you get payed to stand out in the rain.
Teacher: I didn't like Chemistry but I had to do it.
Me: But you get a GCSE for Science, you don't for games.
Teacher: Look, just do it.
Me: Do I have to?
Teacher: No.
Me: Really?
Teacher: No. I lied.
Me: Okay

Uh PE is pointless, i Refused to do it for 3 years in school, I hated it. In my last year, i used my PE lessons to catch up on coursework which was more important than PE ever was to me, i would have done the same as you.

Tbh I just dont give a crap what the teachers say, I have a really big mouth, so I bet i will get in more trouble for shouting at them tomorrow, wouldnt be suprised lol... the only thing im annoyed at is that the PE teacher didnt understand it was important.

Also, running away from my head of year- Maybe not my finest hour!

Mehh.

I wouldn't worry about it! What's the worst that can happen??

Plus nothing can beat, pouring out mercury, it going everywhere, then being quarantined alongside half of the class.

we were then sent home early. and the science department had to be closed for two weeks because of the foam they had too put down to get rid of the mercury...

We didn't even get detention, lines or any sorta trouble!!

one of the best days in school EVER!!

If you don't do PE as a GCSE then it's pointless. It should be an optional lesson really, do it if you want that week but if you're busy then you should be allowed to do coursework.

Once you get to college everything should be a lot more malleable, we're always resheduling or taking lessons off for coursework.

I only ever skpped PE nothing else. purely because i saw it as a pointless lesson. and i did do it for a while but i learned there was nothing in it. all the other lads that done it were twats. the PE teacher was the biggest wanker i have ever met so i was 'whats the point'

I think it all depends on the teacher as well... even if you like a subject, you are going to hate it if the teacher hates you.

I agree.

It's harder being rubbish at PE, than it is being rubbish at academic subjects in a peer pressure kind of way. It's hardly like the other guys in the year will make fun of you if you can't balance a chemistry equation.

The last time I played football, i swore blind it was dodgeball and thought it was strange why I seemed to the best person at the game.

Anyway, its a useless subject imo, and like someone else said, really gives you no qualifications whatsoever. A waste of my time. Don't worry about it.

Well, if you take part in it properly.

If people don't like football or are not very good at it, they're not going to get much out of it.

Yeah, i think its important for exercise but I don't see how forcing people to do games they won't to do is fair, especially if there's no qualification out of it.

If I cant be arsed doing PE I just make my own letters. I seriously don't know how our teacher qualified, he hasn't got a clue. I love stuff like circuit training in PE, but hate football. IMO, circuit training, weights etc is proper PE. Our PE is just so boring, either football or basketball each time. Love basketball tho :P

Me too, much better! Wouldn't really get 10 mins lol, probably a few hours and have my parents informed that i've been forging letters. Better leave it how it is, eh.

I skipped P.E all the time, infact I skipped most lessons ha!still came out with 11 a-c grades. At first me and my friend would just sit in the equipment cupboard and then eventually we got kicked out so we pretended that we were playing badminton on the badminton court and thennn eventually in yr 11 towards the end I was aloud to go and finish my media coursework.I hated PE though cos it messed up your hair and make up,made you sweaty and our gym skirts were vile plus our teacher was a bitch.

It's not that I hate sport as much, but i just the lesson on PE.

The teacher, some of the people in the class, the cold weather.

pft. I don't mind so much when its summer and i'm doing tennis or cricket with my friends.

IMO, circuit training, weights etc is proper PE. Our PE is just so boring, either football or basketball each time. Love basketball tho :P

Lol, I make my own letters too! I made three this week (have 4 lessons of PE a week). The teacher has no clue.

You would do well working for New Labour.

Do you have a quota for how many times you need to mention 'New Labour'? You're liek that freakin' button on that Lost, you need to mention it every few minutes or god knows what happens.

This is a thread about P.E not freakin' politics.

Onto the topic. I hated P.E It got a little better in Year 10 and 11 though as we got to choose what to do.

EDIT: I like some sports, I used to be properly good at Tennis and Badminton but then I got knocked over by a car and I was never as good.

Core PE = shocking

Some people take PE as an option thinking they're going to get a GCSE out of p*ssing about for 2 years but its so much more

Maybe if year 7-9 did more theory and did structured practical work then it would be better

I admit I used to skip core PE and do (funnily enough) my ICT coursework as well but that was only because I was sick of people who just moan about PE and are rubbish at it. I loved GCSE PE.

Exactly then when you make a mistake you can blame it on someone else In solo sports you've only got yourself to blame

I know, but it's also important to be able to take the blame for something you've done wrong instead of blaming people who had nuthin to do with it

Gah, I hate it, mainly due to me being bad. (I have a balance problem, so it's not like I don't try, because I do, I just fail.)

Whereas with sports where your not in a team you can see your own improvement and people won't call you a twat for doing something wrong =D

Archery and Athletics are the best sports.

EDIT;; && Go-Karting =D

I was in a similar situation last week - I skipped a Modern Studies lesson to revise for my external speaking exam for German; prioritising right? Apparently not - my MS teacher's been a total ass to me ever since, and we have coursework due for him on Monday and he's not helped me with it at all. Best thing you can do is be honest, don't try and lie your way out of it, just tell your year head honestly that you know it was wrong but you felt it was more important to complete coursework on time, and BE APOLOGETIC!! That's about all you can do :(. Good luck!

 Good luck either way! It's so bad when that happens though, it's not like we're skiving off class, we are actually doing work, but they don't see our point of view. I apologised but I don't think he understood that I wasn't doing it because I don't like going to class, or that I was doing it because I felt like a few extra free periods, it was to revise for an exam. Ugh. Oh well, back to my dissertation...

Tbh GCSEs are hardly important and an hour of PE wouldn't have cost your coursework much, you could do that any time - YOU NEED EXERCISE! must've been annoying though

I do exercise 3 times a week anyway, so the hour of not doing PE wasnt going to kill me lol
