As usual, I'm online to do something else (in today's case, looking for the opening hours of a retail outlet nearby) and find my browser wandering onto a forum...

I'm willing to bet I'm not the only one who does this.. so..

What should you be doing right now?

There is actually so much work out there- its just people don't have the right qualifications for it (usually older people who never had the chance to go to college etc) so I should be OK ... only need one to last until September (ish) just to pay for basic bills though, think I'm going uni then. But I might have something else happening but I'm not going to say in case it gets jinxed

Ah... so the jobs market isn't as bad as it's being made out. You might have a point about qualifications though. I have seen a lot of jobs advertised which I'm qualified for, so maybe I just have the right ones. I'm not looking just now though. I'm still home with the kids. Where I live childminding is practically impossible. :(

A few people have said I should train as a childminder, but I'm afraid that's not for me lol

My sister was a childminder and while it suited her I'm with you and I couldnt look after other peoples kids.... its would make me pull my hair out.

On the job front, I agree with Tom, there are jobs out there you just have to look.

Red started to look for work just over 2 weeks ago and he got one, bit it only temporary within a few days of searching.

He also has 2 interviews to do, one yesterday and one next week.

I heard there are something like half a million permanent full time job vacancies, only the media don't like to pick up on that because it ruins the image that everyone is heading for unemployment. That doesn't even take into account temporary jobs and part time jobs.

It makes me pull my hair out looking after my own kids some days lol..

The media will always portray things worse than what they actually are. People are obviously finding that out when they're faced with the task of finding a job.
