No. There is an American Psycho movie though, which is just as good as the book:

James Patterson, Stephen King, Oscar Wilde, Jeffrey Deaver, George Orwell.
Mostly crime/thriller books with the obvious exceptions of Wilde and Orwell.

Hmm, we wouldn't be posting here if it wasn't for him. How very odd.
[for those who don't know wtf I'm on about - He wrote 1984, which had the Big Brother concept in it]

I love George Orwell, I'm currently in a production of "Animal Farm".
I read too much to have a favourite.
J.D Salinger (If I had to choose) mainly because he gave us Holden Caulfield.

George Orwell
J.K. Rowling. Probably the most obvious one.
I have to agree with most and say Orwell, insanely good author. I am also gonna say JK Rowling, I know its an obvious choice but she persuaded a whole generation of children to read. And her story of Harry Potter is more adult than people thing, its quite closely based on the holocaust. Her stories are very easy to read and very enjoyable, while orwell is a difficult read but leaves you with thoughts...
