TASK ANNOUNCEMENT
Saturday 15 January 2005

ALL ABOARD THE GHOST TRAIN - FOR A BIERKELLER PARTY

This afternoon at approx 4pm, the housemates will be invited to board the Big Brother Ghost Train. An obstacle course has been set in the garden and housemates will have 20 minutes in which to complete the course.

Each housemate in turn must climb aboard the ghost train wearing a spiked helmet and a blindfold. The housemate on the ghost train must then navigate the train around the course whilst blindfolded, following instructions from fellow housemates.

The Course:
*The ghost train must follow the pathway between the ground balloons from the start line to the finish line.
*In addition, as each ghost train driver passes under each bridge they must burst ONE balloon ONLY above their head, using their spiked helmets.
*If the ghost train driver bursts more than one balloon at each bridge, a further 30 seconds for every over-head balloon burst will be added to their time.
*If the ghost train driver does not burst an overhead balloon at every bridge (i.e. if there are still overhead balloons remaining) they will incur a one-minute penalty.
*The balloons on the first bridge will contain iced water, the balloons on the second bridge will contain green cottage cheese and the balloons on the third bridge will contain black treacle.
*When housemates are not driving the ghost train they must shout directions to guide the ghost train driver around the course avoiding as many balloons as they can.
*The clock will start and housemates must begin the course when they hear a ghostly laugh.

The following rules must be adhered to:
*All housemates must complete the course from start to finish.
*When the first ghost train driver has completed the course, the second ghost train driver must begin immediately, and so on until all housemates have completed the course.
*Housemates must wear the safety equipment provided for the duration of the task.
*Housemates must decide the order in which they will complete the course.
*Housemates must not remove their spiked helmets until instructed.

As a reward for their efforts, the housemates will tonight be given a Bierkeller 'Oompah' party - complete with lederhosen, a keg of beer and a selection of sausages. For the first time in their nine-day stay, they will also be treated to music - Austrian folk music and nine themed pop songs.

What A Loc-Commotion!

Housemates had fun, got messy, and ultimately completed their ghost train task this evening. But whether they passed is still unclear.

Bez was first up as the blindfolded driver, with Jeremy barking directions from the sidelines.

It was clearly a difficult task as Bez struggled to negotiate the course, popping balloons by the dozen in the process.

Each Housemate burst a balloon with their spiky helmets bringing down a nasty liquid on their heads.

Brigitte looked like an experienced blind driver as she weaved her way round the course like a pro.

With all but one of them finishing the course it fell to John, who had sat with a worried expression throughout, to complete the task. He had asked to be last but soon regretted doing so.

He became distressed when the ghost train ground to a halt in the middle of the course. "I'm sorry. I can't help it," he whined.

Jeremy tried to calm him and eventually came to help. "Nigel Mansell couldn't drive that," he said as he rattled the controls of the stricken vehicle.

"Why me?" asked John. Quite.

"That was fun," said Brigitte, unconcerned that the task remained in doubt.

Big Brother announced that the task was over, but if the ghost train was found to have a fault they would not have failed and would still receive a reward tonight.

Check back to find out if they're in luck!

Cheers... All Round

Big Brother announced that the Housemates had passed their ghost train task and would receive their reward.

They completed the course in 15 minutes and 57 seconds, with John's ride being declared void after the vehicle developed a fault, and ground to a halt.

The Housemates screamed and cheered, with Caprice singing "We Are The Champions". True, as no one else could claim their ghost train obstacle course crown.

Jeremy emerged from the Living Area looking like he had just witnessed the birth of his first child. He had, in fact, found a keg of beer, delivered by Big Brother as part of their reward.

Instructions from Big Brother informed them that they had been awarded a Bierkeller Party, complete with lederhosen, a tap of beer and a selection of sausages.

Housemates donned the traditional Bavarian outfits that included hats with feathers and white knee socks, and then opened the bar, ready to drink beer and get down to some yodelling.

A CD was also delivered with the beer and costumes containing Austrian folk music and some specially selected themed pop songs.

We look forward to Kenzie rockin' the mic with some yodel-rap fusion later on... we think!

Beer and blazing rows

The seven remaining Celebrity Big Brother contestants celebrated successfully completing their latest task last night by throwing an Austrian-themed party.
They were handed Austrian folk costumes, beer from a barrel and sausages while Channel 4 producers piped in traditional music via loudspeakers.

Earlier each housemate had to board a 'ghost train' driven by a colleague and burst balloons on an obstacle course in the garden using a spiked helmet.

Model Caprice and John McCririck had a blazing row after Big Brother showed her footage of him saying she was 'calculating' and 'cold'.

The joint favourite to win the show, Happy Mondays star Bez could follow Germaine Greer, who walked out last week, after he vowed to escape by climbing over the garden wall.

A Channel Four insider said: "We don't know if he is serious about leaving. Bez is used to partying all night and gets quite agitated when he is doing nothing.
