Rob Brydon - was born into the world here in Swansea on 3rd May 1965 before my time. Then after spending most of his school days growing up in Baglan NR Port Talbot it was Porthcawl where his interest in acting became known
Sir Anthony Hopkins - Born and bred in Port Talbot, his father was a Taibach Baker. After the famous actor Richard Burton visited Port Talbot, Anthony got his autograph and decided to follow in his footsteps which he did.
Catherine Zeta Jones - A Swansea woman born on 25th Sept 1969. As a little girl Catherine could be seen singing and dancing at the Swansea Grand Theatre, in a production of ‘Annie’. Catherine is also a British Tap Dancing Champion. In the 1990’s everything would change for her when she had one of the main roles in ‘The Darling Buds of May’. Later in 1996 she had fame in the USA, played the lead role in a Mini Series of “Titanic”. This led her to play Elena de la Vega in The Mask of Zorro.
Bonnie Tyler - She was born in Skewen, Neath on 8th June 1951, her father was a miner but it was her mother’s love of music that influenced Bonnie. Working during the day as a shop assistant, then in the evenings she sang with ‘Bobby Wayne and the Dixies’. Undeterred Bonnie recorded a song “Lost in france” in 1976, it went to Number Nine in the British charts. And also a massive hit across Europe, Germany was the best staying in the Top Ten for more than six months. Some people have described her voice as being ‘Husky’ and the female Rod Stewart.
