Is there any point me getting Twitter?

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for social networky things, and I'm totally intrigued by it, but it just seems a bit pointless.
None of my friends have it and if I want people to know what I'm doing, I have facebook for that. Yeah, there's celebs but are they really going to reply? There must be millions of people messaging them everyday. It just seems like one of those things that are 'in' at the moment, and will end up being a phase and deserted.
I'm actually torn whether to bother or not.

I have one but I only tweet once every few weeks at the most. I don't see the huge obsession and how people can just tell everyone every single thing they do. It's okay if you're bored or to follow your favourite celebrities with, but I wouldn't recommend you getting one if you're looking to be on it loads.

Because Facebook was the huge fad just like Twitter is fastly becoming. Like how every abandoned Myspace for Facebook, people will probably be moving to Twitter too.

I love it, I got it the other day..

I have a few celebs on it, Miley Cyrus, Tom Fletcher, Dougie Poynter, Danny Jones, Giovanna (Toms fiancee), Frankie from the Saturdays and Russel Brand.

I have a few friends from real life like, and a few from online, and it's great!

I don't like facebook, not a major fan of MySpace (use that to message celebs and bands, mainly Reemer).. used to love Bebo.. but don't go on that very often now...

If you don't have many people on twitter, it would be boring xD

True,I've completely abandoned Bebo for Twitter.

I know quite a few people off another forum on it and we're addicted so I properly spend more off my tweets talking to them more than anything else!

Im starting to use twitter a bit more every day... slowly getting addicted. Not there yet though.

Its just one of those things, websites come and go like fashion, myspace has died and facebook will die eventually replaced by something else. I don't think twitter will replace it but meh.

I still dont get twitter... I mean, why use twitter when you have facebook status'?

I think it's cos with FB status, your status is more general and less-updated - whereas with twitter (because the sole purpose is to update it) you can update it often with menial things.

I don't use Facebook, so correct me if I'm wrong, but with Twitter there are programs you can use to tweet with (which will automatically send it to your twitter page) as opposed to being on the site. So you can do it through a program on your desktop, your mobile, ipod etc. And you can get it placed onto a website like on BritneySpears.com. It's really just a more powerful Facebook status thing.
