Cheryl Cole has reportedly started working on an R&B-inspired solo album.

The Girls Aloud singer, who previously collaborated with will.i.am on 'Heartbreaker', is said to be eager to record music more similar to her own tastes.

"The solo stuff Cheryl's been working on is R&B-based, as that's her favourite kind of music," a source told Heat.

"Her influences are artists like Beyoncé and Mary J. Blige, so she wants to keep that soulful vibe."

Earlier this year, the star fuelled speculation that she wanted to launch a career in the US after holding talks with Simon Cowell and executives.

Cole is currently rehearing with her Girls Aloud bandmates for their upcoming tour, which kicks off in Manchester on April 24.

Good luck to her, I always thought Cheryl would be the most succesful from the group.

I like her but lets be honest.
She cant sing.
When she does sing, it sounds like someone exhaling into the microphone.

Look at steps... the most successful one out of them was Lisa, the most talented was Claire. Look at Spice Girls, the most successful one there was Geri... most talented was Mel C.

Yeah. I do love Cheryl though. :lovedup:

Same with S Club. Most successful was Hannah (stars in Primeval) or Rachel most talented was Jo.

Nicola's voice > rest of the girls.
Admittedly, Nicola, Nadina, and Sarah all have pretty good voices, and Cheryl and Kim can definitely sing, more than the average person, but are't anything special IMO.

Kim has a very good Broadway voice, if you saw her on Passions. I was actually quite shocked that she could project her voice like she can.

Kim has a reallly good voice,but she shouldn't be in GA. She could be doing really good acoustic Amy Winehouse/Duffy stuff cos her voice isn't suited to being electrofied tbh.

Well GA aren't breaking up for a whiel yet They've signed a contract to do more albums. If she does this Solo Album it'll be a side project like the Shadow Puppets with Arctic Monkey and the Rascals.

I don't think R'n'B would work with Cheryl.

That song was a Will.I.Am song not a Cheryl Cole one. It wasn't exactly huge anyway. It'll be interesting to see but I can tell I won't like it, the Record company will just make her sing bland RNB songs.

I am not sure this will happen, because:

Tour until end of summer.
X Factor non-stop right up until Christmas.
Work on Girls Aloud 6th studio album which is planned first half of 2010.

I just don't see it happening.

Just going off rumours of splitting, if they ever do actually split I think most of them can have success afterwards. Cheryl obviously has X Factor, the ginger one has gone into beauty (LOL), Sarah is doing acting and Kimberley is doing modelling. The irony is the one with the most talent (the Irish one) will probably do the worst. She doesn't exactly endear herself and I can't see her doing anything more than a Rachel Stevens ... ie bringing out 1 or 2 hits then fading into obscurity, and appearing on reality TV a few years down the line.
