Corrie star in 'savage attack'

Coronation Street star Mikey North required emergency surgery after being savagely beaten up at the weekend.

The actor, who plays bad boy Gary Windass in the ITV soap, suffered serious facial injuries in the attack, reports the Daily Mirror.

The 22-year-old was beaten up by two thugs as he walked home from a nightclub in Scarborough following a night out with his girlfriend and some other friends.

The attackers reportedly goaded him about his Coronation Street character before jumping him from behind in the brutal assault.

A Corrie spokesperson told the paper: "There was an incident at the weekend which resulted in Mikey North sustaining facial injuries.

"He was treated in hospital and the matter is now in the hands of the police."

It is believed the actor will not be able to return to work for several weeks because of his injuries.

I was about to say this, yeah - some people are just genuinely stupid! At the end of the day, he's successful, probably has a hot girlfriend, lots of money - the lowlifes that did this got their joy for all of 5 seconds before going back to their ransacked dole-scrounged apartment to wake up in a pool of their own vomit.
