Zac Efron has hinted that he is considering releasing a solo album in the future.

Speaking to MTV News, the 17 Again star admitted that he would like to explore the possibility of recording an LP, provided that he could have full control over it.

"I've always been a fan of music. I love it. It's my life, but at the same time, it's not necessarily my passion to an extent where I want to create it and put it out there," he explained.

"I think that potentially it could be someday. I think the day I could make an album is the day I could write and produce it on my own terms and when I have the skills and wisdom to do it."

Efron, who found fame with Disney's High School Musical franchise, namechecked Kasabian, Asher Roth, Radiohead and Kings Of Leon among his favourite artists, adding: "I just saw the Kings of Leon in Australia. They do a great show. It's just music."

'cos he's always said he's not a singer.
BUT OMFG HE TOTALLY HAS TO.
&if he goes down the whole songwritin/radiohead/Kings of Leon route.

No matter what he says, no record company will have him singing KOL-esque songs. It goes against his average target audience. If he ever does it it'll be poppy/Justin Timberlake esque.

It'd be interesting to see but I don't think he could carry off rocky songs. Doesn't seem to have the voice for it from what i've heard.

I know, but I reckon Zac's clever enough to sign with the right companies.
He's said himself that he doesn't do anything he doesn't believe in and always puts his complete effort into what he does.

I think Zac doing a Radiohead-style album would benefit him because he's trying to distance himself from Disney and the poppy/child audience. Therefore people who like Disney Zac will probably be disappointed, but ah well.
I'd much rather Zac do Kings Of Leon/Radiohead style music then generic pop stuff.

The only thing is, if he's goes down the Radiohead/Kings Of Leon route, his music will be nothing like HSM [which IMO is a good thing but I suppose it's a double edged sword]

It COULD happen.
It's the sorta music he listens to and is inspired by.
IF he was to sign with the right company, he could do it.
