View Full Version : Rule J

j) We do not allow 'text speech' to be used on the forum. Text speech was designed for mobile phones, not online communities. Please read http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/forum/topic29297.htm which will give you more details. Also, we do not allow posts written solely in CAPITAL LETTERS. Not only is it annoying to read, it disrupts the flow of the forum.
The odd exception is ok; I am sure we have all used text speak every now and then, but currently some members seem to have forgotten this rule.
So stop all acting so childish and learn to type.
And no, I don't think I am a moderator.

LOL I never seen that one, where is it to.
And I mainly meant threads like this http://thisisbigbrother.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=111690&page=2#pid1856034 where people speak like social rejects.

I'd say it was equally pedantic.
If people can understand what "umg wtf" means, and what you posted, I don't see the problem.
There are bigger issues in the world than a bit of text speech.

To be fair, I dont mind stuff like omg, lol, u etc its when everyone goes on like omgz bbz dat is wel funnix.
People wonder why people insult gay people, the members of tibb are a prime example - Sorry, but it's true, especially when most of you don't even speak like that off forum, and would most probably be mortified if people you actually knew saw you typing like it.

Yes Shaun, but this isn't 'the world'. This is a forum where we read posts, and it can be irritating having to read posts which read like they have been created by a four year old child.

Then don't use all the stupid text speech talk and Magic won't have to step-up and act like a moderator.
Problem solved.

So is the banning feature.
I do much wonder if people on here will look back on the forum in a year and go 'What the F was I thinking?' It is like one person said something witty and everyone carried it on and exaggerated it by 10.

Sorry if this is how my behaviour looks. But I just see that I am pointing out a distinct problem, which you obviously haven't noticed. Maybe if this problem didn't exist, such a thread wouldn't of been created.

Don't apologize they are just angry because it is aimed at them, if it was against something that all these trend followers believed in then they would jump on like a pack of wolves.

Meh, at the end of the day, if we find it fun, we find it fun. You can think it's sad, or annoying, or whatever. That's your prerogative.
We aren't harming anyone and it doesn't take much effort to either:
a) exit thread
b) put me/others on ignore

Because there are worser things on here that go unnoticed a lot of the time. If the text speech on here was causing you great emotional pain, I'd understand. It's completely harmless.

Just out of curiosity, how is typing like a ****** fun?
Whatever floats your boat I suppose
And as I have said, why should I ignore people breaking the rules.
Fair do's Shaun, I won't complain anymore as long as the posts stick to Chat & Games where it doesn't interrupt other conversations.

Since when did anything on here cause anyone emotional pain, yet when it comes to someone slagging Britney off etc your the first to complain, does that cause you emotional pain?

Care to point some of these out?
Even if there are greater problems, its still a stupid problem that needs adressing soon. And it isn't completly harmless; its ruining the flow of the site.

oh w/e I'm not gonna argue over text speech, especially when it's so little and inoffensive.
Yeah but surely there's a difference between text speech, i.e. someone who blatantly doesn't understand the English language, and someone choosing to type in a specific way. I can understand how it's annoying for other people, it doesn't affect me in any way whatsoever because I can understand what I'm reading, e.g. "ohay" makes sense to me, however "il tk 2 u l8r ttfn" takes me a moment to understand.
Just my tuppence !

Hmm, it is annoying for me, its good you dont mind. But personnally its ruining the flow of the site with it at the extreme levels it is at now, and I think this rule needs more attention from the members.

I was thinking about GaGa after watching an interview, I take that one back, she is acually quite well spoken, im referring to the 'Its britney bitch' kind of talk.
