SUSAN Boyle has gone from being the Hairy Angel to the Pink Princess after becoming a gay icon.
And it means she is now in the same bracket as Kylie Minogue, 40, Madonna, 50, and Beyonce, 27, and Britney, 27.
Gays and lesbians have “adopted” the singer as their latest heroine.
And TV bosses have been swamped with invitations from the world’s gay capital San Francisco for Susan to attend pink parades out there.
They love the fact she is a fighter and a survivor and has coped with learning difficulties and being bullied at school.
And unlucky-in-love Susan has never had a boyfriend.
Matthew Todd, editor of gay magazine Attitude, said last night: “She’s definitely a gay icon. She’s suffered tragedy in her life, not had a partner and yet she’s now giving pleasure to millions with her voice.
“We live in a world obsessed by looks and image. And yet Susan had the guts to walk on stage, and in front of an audience and panel of judges who were laughing at her, she did something fabulous.”
“That’s why we all love her. Every month in our magazine we have a chart listing celebrities who are on the up or on the slide in our eyes.
“Susan’s definitely on the upper. We’d love her to come and chat to us. She’s now an icon just like Kylie.”
