Ferdinand, Cole miss England training

LONDON (AFP) — England defenders Rio Ferdinand and Ashley Cole missed Monday's training session as a precaution ahead of the trip to Kazakhstan for Saturday's World Cup qualifier.

Chelsea left-back Cole suffered a knock during the FA Cup final win over Everton on Saturday, while Ferdinand rested as a result of the calf problem he had before Manchester United's Champions League final defeat to Barcelona.

England coach Fabio Capello hopes both players will train in the next few days to prove their fitness in preparation for the match in Almaty, then the Wembley encounter with Andorra next week.

All the other members of Capello's squad trained at Arsenal's London Colney base, with James Milner joining the squad to replace United midfielder Michael Carrick.

David Beckham, Frank Lampard, John Terry and Joleon Lescott, who all played at the weekend, separated from the rest to the group to do running exercises on their own during Monday's session.

Capello is already without goalkeepers David James and Ben Foster, who were ruled out of the squad through injury.

Roger Federer kept his dream of a first French Open title alive by coming back from two sets down to beat the unseeded Tommy Haas and reach the last eight.

The exit of Federer's nemesis Rafael Nadal on Sunday has increased the second seed's hopes of glory in Paris.

But he was in big trouble when Haas won the first set on a tie-break and put on a late surge for the second set too.

Federer had to save a vital break point at 3-4 in the third set and recovered to triumph 6-7 (4-7) 5-7 6-4 6-0 6-2.

Yeah it is kind of. not the same rules or pitch layout, we have a tournament with the Aussie's every year. There was really bad fights a couple of years ago and it nearly got cancelled.

MILAN DOWNBEAT ON KAKA

The future of Kaka remains shrouded in doubt after AC Milan general manager Adriano Galliani hinted it would be hard to turn down a substantial offer for the Brazilian this summer.

Kaka has long been a target of Real Madrid while Chelsea are expected to manifest their own interest having appointed Carlo Ancelotti as their manager.

And Galliani could not rule out a sale as he predicts a mass exodus from Serie A if nothing is done to improve the whole footballing infrastructure in Italy.

"With the risk of sounding boring, if we continue like this, we will become a small league," he said.

"We have had requests for Kaka and Pato from two of Europe's biggest clubs and we will try and resist the assault from these European clubs who have more money than us.

"But there is an uneven playing field.

"I remember when we signed (Marco) van Basten and we competed with Barcelona for his signature, and he chose us.

"Today, Barcelona and Real Madrid have an income which is double that of ours."

Not only do the clubs in Spain and England earn more money from television revenue and marketing than the leading Serie A sides, but they can also offer more attractive wages due to more beneficial taxation rules and this, according to Galliani, is pricing Italian clubs out of the market.

"In the mid to long term, players like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are not going to come here," he said.

"Thierry Henry had the same offer from Milan than he did from Barcelona but he told us he could get 50% more in Spain, so he joined Barcelona.

"We have got to ask ourselves why nobody is thinking of coming here.

"The problem with Kaka and Pato is a bigger issue. You can discover any player you like but if you cannot pay them the wages of a big club, then they go somewhere else.

"That was the case with Cristiano Ronaldo with Sporting Lisbon and Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Ajax. They had to move on."

Even Milan's new coach Leonardo seemed sceptical about having Kaka in his squad next season.

He said: "I think that Kaka, like any world-class player, is always wanted by other clubs.

"He is a man who will always be in the market. I cannot deny that I hope he continues to play for us as he is a key player for this club.

"But it is normal that he is wanted on the market."

However, despite confirming there is interest from other clubs for Kaka and Pato, Galliani insists "no contract has been signed with anybody else" as yet.

"Kaka is a Milan player," he affirmed.

"The fact other clubs are so interested in our players proves that we were right to sign them."

HOOPS FACE FIGHT FOR MARTINEZ

Celtic will face competition from Wigan and Real Sociedad if they continue to pursue Swansea manager Roberto Martinez.

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins has revealed he had rejected a request from Celtic to speak to the Spaniard about the vacant managerial role at Parkhead.

But Jenkins added Sociedad had also enquired about his manager while he expects Wigan to follow suit in the coming days.

Martinez enjoyed a successful playing spell at Wigan, who are expected to have a vacancy of their own after accepting a compensation package from Sunderland that will allow Steve Bruce to move to the Stadium of Light.

However, Celtic may yet be allowed to speak to Martinez as Jenkins admitted he would perform a U-turn if the 35-year-old insists on speaking to the Glasgow club when he returns from holiday.

"I'll probably speak to him (Martinez) between now and Wednesday but later on in the week he'll be back home to run through his thoughts with me," Jenkins said.

"First and foremost, it's about his position here and how we see that, and we'll consider all that first.

"I think you've got to respect that type of club Celtic are and what opportunities exist - perhaps not in the league but certainly in the Champions League - and the size of the club.

"Naturally, I suppose that interest would require anybody to sit and consider their position.

"It's basically up to him how he sees it, I think there's certainly no possibility of us forcing any issue. Roberto has got to consider his future and where his commitment lies."

Martinez led the Welsh club to the League One title in his first full season in charge and took them to eighth place in their debut season in the Coca-Cola Championship.

That record is likely to see him installed as one of the favourites for the Wigan job should Bruce's departure be confirmed.

When asked if he had taken a call from Wigan chairman Dave Whelan, Jenkins told BBC Sport Wales: "I'd probably be surprised if I didn't have one but again we'll have to see what happens over the next few days.

"We'll do everything in our power to keep him (Martinez) but ultimately it always comes down to the individual himself, how he feels and what we wants to do and what he wants to do with the next step of his career."

Jenkins has also spoken to Sociedad about Martinez, who had a brief and largely unsuccessful spell at Motherwell before being made redundant when the club went into administration in April 2002.

"We have had a few brief calls, nothing more than that, which is quite natural with the season we've had and the publicity he's had," Jenkins said.

"He's probably quite high on a number of people's lists which is good in one respect but obviously it can also be bad in some other ways."

Celtic refused to confirm the approach and whether others were in the offing, but it is the most concrete development in their hunt to replace Gordon Strachan, who quit last week.

Owen Coyle looks set to pledge his future to Burnley after apparently rejecting overtures from Celtic, while West Brom continue to insist there has been no approach for former Hoops defender Tony Mowbray, who has two years left on his contract.

Motherwell manager Mark McGhee and Craig Levein also continue to be linked with the post but the Dundee United boss denied any knowledge of interest from Celtic, or indeed from Aberdeen as they seek to replace Jimmy Calderwood.

"I was down in England at the races at the weekend and every Scottish punter I met mentioned either Aberdeen or Celtic," Levein told the Dundee Evening Telegraph.

"Them mentioning it was the first time I'd heard and they are the only people who've spoken to me about it."

Everton manager David Moyes yesterday ruled himself out of the running.

"There may well have been an inquiry from Celtic but that doesn't interest me," Moyes said.

"I am the Everton manager and I am a really loyal person."

KHIZANISHVILI SEEKS ROVERS TALKS

Zurab Khizanishvili admits he is to seek talks with Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce after growing frustrated with a lack of first-team football at Ewood Park.

The Georgia international made just three league starts last season and while he remains happy at the club he wants to know what role he will play next year.

"It has been a little bit frustrating because the football side of things has not been going as I hoped it might be," he told the Lancashire Telegraph.

"The season though is finished so we will see what happens next season.

"There is no point talking about what happened in the past.

"I still have a two-year contract with Blackburn, it is up to them really, so all I can do is look forward.

"I don't know if I will still be here next season. All I can say is I have a contract so I am a Blackburn Rovers player.

"I want to play here, but that is my opinion, I don't know what the club are thinking so we will have to talk and see what happens from there.

"I still like it at Blackburn. I am not unhappy; I just wish I was playing a bit more."

NOVO RULES OUT GERS EXIT

Nacho Novo hopes to become a regular starter in the Rangers side next term and would like to stay at Ibrox until he retires.

The Spanish forward has been with the club since 2004 but has fallen down the pecking order after a season blighted by injuries.

He came off the substitutes' bench to score a spectacular winner in Saturday's Scottish Cup final against Falkirk and has now set his sights on a long future with Walter Smith's side.

The 30-year-old's contract expires next summer and there has been reported interest from clubs across the continent, including Deportivo La Coruna.

However, Novo admits it would break his heart to ever leave Rangers and he is keen to stay and play a more important role.

"I don't know how it will feel when it's my time to leave. I feel so much for this club I would die for it. It's as simple as that. And I'm not just saying that - I actually mean it," Novo told the Daily Record.

"Some people might say things like that just to sound good but I'm straightforward. I never want to leave this place. The fans are the best in the world and I just love playing for them. If I got my way then I would retire here. I never want to be anywhere else.

"Yes, sometimes it's hard for me when I'm not playing many games but I am the kind of person who never gives up. I want to prove to the manager that I should be playing."

Novo is convinced he still has a lot to offer Rangers but accepts that it could be difficult for him to become a permanent fixture in the team again.

"This year has not been the best for me. I have not played so much and I got injured at a bad time. I have found it hard and, if I'm honest, that worries me a little bit. I worry that it might be the same next season," he explained.

"I know if I get a regular chance I'll score goals for this club. I've proved that and I want to prove it again.

"I understand it's going to be another fight for me next year but I'm happy with that. It's good for players to know they can take nothing for granted - they have to go out there and earn it."

BLANC HAILS FERRARA

Juventus club administrator Jean-Claude Blanc has praised temporary coach Ciro Ferrara and revealed the former Juve star is among the candidates to guide the Turin giants next season.

Ferrara replaced sacked Claudio Ranieri earlier this month after the team's poor run of form.

Under Ferrara, Juve beat Siena 3-0 and won 2-0 against Lazio to pip AC Milan in the race to finish second in Serie A.

"It has been hard work to achieve this second position," Blanc said. "It is a great satisfaction because it has been a difficult campaign.

"This is the result of the work done by (Claudio) Ranieri and his staff.

"But after 60 days without victories, we were forced to take a decision in order to change the situation.

"Ferrara and his staff have done a good job in the last two weeks."

Bari coach Antonio Conte and Roma tactician Luciano Spalletti have been strongly linked with the Juve job this summer but Blanc insists Ferrara is also a strong contender to guide Juve.

"It's still early days," Blanc said. "We will take another 10 days to reflect before we make an important decision for the future of the club.

"Ferrara is among the candidates. He has proved his technical and leadership qualities.

"He was the coach of Juve for the last two weeks and he is a good candidate for the future."

MANCINI AGENT DISMISSES LINK

Roberto Mancini's agent has dismissed suggestions his client is set to be named manager of Sunderland.

Mancini was quoted as saying he had been offered the chance to take over at the Stadium of Light, and hinted he would relish the opportunity to return to football after a 12-month absence.

But his agent, Giorgio De Giorgis, said the Wearsiders had not been in touch.

He said: "Mancini is aware of those reports.

"But we have not received an offer, nor have we been in touch with anyone from Sunderland."

Mancini has been out of work since leaving Inter Milan last summer shortly after leading them to a third successive Serie A title.

De Giorgis confirmed there was interest in his client from England but that no formal offer had yet been put to the 44-year-old.

"There has been interest from English teams but Sunderland is not one of them," he said.

"However, no official offers have been made."

Mancini remains an outsider, with Wigan boss Steve Bruce emerging as the firm favourite for the post soon after Ricky Sbragia's resignation seven days ago.

Wigan have confirmed they will not stand in the way of Bruce providing Sunderland pay £3million in compensation.

Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has already given Bruce permission to talk to Sunderland, and expected a decision to be made by the end of Sunday.

Compensation would not be a factor if Sunderland were to appoint Mancini.

Bruce joined Wigan from Birmingham in November 2007, and has been a success at the JJB Stadium.

Whelan told Sportsweek on Radio Five Live: "I paid Birmingham a compensation fee and I think it is only fair they buy his contract out.

"I paid Birmingham £3million and I am asking for the same amount back.

"There are a lot of managers on the market at the moment you can get for nothing. It depends whether Sunderland feel they want to pay £3million. If they want real, real quality managers Steve is up there.

"I said to Steve and to Niall [Quinn, the Sunderland chairman] that if you are going to do a deal, do it quickly. Niall spoke to me and said, 'I understand we can't mess about on this and by Sunday evening we will have a decision for you.'"

Mancini has only limited experience of English football, having had a brief playing stint with Leicester in 2001 before going into full-time coaching.

Before joining Leicester he had a spell as player/assistant manager with Lazio, under Sven-Goran Eriksson, and later had spells as manager of Fiorentina and Lazio prior to joining Inter in 2004.

OOIJER SET FOR PSV RETURN

Blackburn defender Andre Ooijer has confirmed he will be returning to PSV Eindhoven next season.

"I am sure I have become a better person because it is a big experience to live abroad and play abroad."

Ooijer is hoping to help PSV recover from a poor season in which they finished fourth in the table.

He said: "Hopefully I can do my best and help them get back up the league again."

Ooijer is also keen to continue his international career and said: "I will do what I can to stay in there. There is a World Cup coming up and I would like to go to South Africa."

TUGAY SAYS ROVERS FAREWELL

Blackburn midfielder Tugay bade an emotional farewell to Ewood Park at the end of the season.

The Turkish midfielder told the Rovers fans "I love you and I'll miss you" as the strains of 'Nobody does it better' rang around the stadium.

Rovers boss Sam Allardyce had revealed in early May that the 38-year-old was set to call time on his career at the club.

Tugay spent eight years with Blackburn, having arrived from Rangers for £1.3million in 2001.

That has proven to be a snip for Rovers, with the cultured playmaker becoming a firm fans' favourite during his time in Lancashire.

Allardyce said: "Tugay can bow out gracefully after playing at the top level most of the time.

"He has had a fantastic career. But at 38 and the ever-increasing demands of the Premier League, certainly in a physical sense, it means you cannot go on forever.

"He has been a great servant to the club and if there is going to be a testimonial I don't have a problem with that."

Glasgow Rangers FC – summer transfers

I have some good contacts at Murray Park and have been told the following will happen over the summer.

Walter has now lost all patience with Alan McGregor after his latest bad press over the last week and he will now be off to either Birmingham or Spurs for around £5m+. Also out the door will go Boyd, for around £3.75m with Big Eck and Birmingham looking favourites to come back in for him and give him the £20k a week he wanted in January. Fortunately Christian Dailly has kicked his last ball for Rangers, and Hemdani, Adam, Gow, Webster, S Smith, will also be moved on.

The Barry Ferguson deals hinges on whether or not Tony Mowbray gets the Celtic job. If he gets it the deal will be off and only Birmingham again will be interested in the former Rangers captain and Walter will turn his attention to Andy Driver of Hearts with Velicka returning to Hearts along with Webster as part of the deal. However, if Mowbray is unsuccessful at getting the Celtic job, Barry will go to WBA and Northern Ireland internationalist Chris Brunt will come to Ibrox as part of the deal to join up with Davis & Lafferty.

So following Brunt in the front doors at Ibrox will be the following. Walter is still not convinced Alexander is the answer to being his No1 even after some great displays in the last few months of the season and it is rumoured that with McGregor out the door he will make a bid to bring Craig Gordon back to Scotland. Also on Walter's radar are two bosmans Hreidarrsson from Portsmouth will be brought in as he can play either Centre half or left back and Aguiar of Hearts. That will leave only a centre forward to find and Rangers are casting their eye over a few european possibilities. One player rumoured over the weekend is ex chelsea forward Kezman who is playing with PSG at the moment but has fell out of favour.

So there you have it, remember where you heard it first. . 52 and counting!!

Ronaldo off to RM for 40mill + Sneijder and huntelaar. This will solve the problem of a tevez replacement more than ever as unlike tevez JKH is not a player similar to rooney and is an out and out striker. So he can play wit both berba and roo and even both of them wit roo on the wide left.
Sneijder has been out of favours in RM wit juande ramos and will solve united s problem of not havin a attakin mid who can get into the box and score.
and at 24 he s the perfect option.
Ron to RM will leave the wide right open so incoming ll be Antonio valencia. Valencia being a little physical he ll do the job rooney s currently being deployed to do.
Unlikely that Park will be off loaded and along with the fresh young talent of tosic.
A young central midfielder is unlikely wit ljajic ariving in the winter as part of he tosic deal.
Berba may be sold considering his impact has been negligeble especially in european games ( the ones SAF thought he ll be needed for most)If so third striker ll be filled by Welbeck, Macheda and cambell

MANCHESTER UNITED NEWS!
FYI, I am the person who wrote here that Cristiano will be branded CR7 by NIKE before Nike released the brand CR7 to the market.

I was told by my source in Tampa, Florida that the Glazer's are again on top of SAF and Gill's 2009/2010 campaign plans. About Ronaldo's status, Cristiano is upset about the lost against Barcelona but he is not asking to be transferred and there's no meeting yet. NIKE assured the Glazer's that he (Ronaldo) won't go to a ADIDAS team (REal Madrid) FYI: CR7 contract to NIKE has a clause that Ronaldo will return his millions of pounds if he moved to a ADIDAS sponsored team. Thats a FACT!!! According to my source that's what he can't request for a transfer. Last season Cristiano and his agent ask Real Madrid to pay NIKE but Real can't afford to payout because it's to much for them (Real will pay United 65 mil and Nike 35 mil).

Sir Alex Ferguson is contemplating over the sale of Owen Hargreaves. It is believed that if Hargreaves can't prove his fitness by the first day of pre season then Fergie will have officials to tout him to a few mid table clubs. Gary Megson, Alex McLeish and Roy Hodgson all may be prepared to gamble on a £4.5million deal.
Savio Busquets may arrive for £20 million from Barcelona, Fergie sees him as a successor to Paul Scholes, and sees the spaniard as a preferred option to Anderson and Nani.

Theo Walcott has insisted he is happy to play for England at senior and Under 21 level this summer. Walcott has been included in Fabio Capello's squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Andorra. He will then link up with Stuart Pearce's Under 21s for the European Championship in Sweden, meaning he will get very little break before returning to pre-season with Arsenal. Capello has dismissed concerns of burnout that have been raised by Arsene Wenger and Walcott maintains he is excited rather than cautious about what lies ahead. "It is an absolute honour for me to represent my country," the 20-year-old said in the News of the World. "I do not want to miss out for a moment. We have a good Under 21 side with the potential to win the tournament. I have been with them throughout and want to see it through. I think it's a great tournament and it will be a great experience for me. We can win it which means I come back on July 27 - fingers crossed!"

Firstly, why would Beckford want to move to Barnsley. You took till the last day of the season to stay in the Championship! He's being caughted by the likes of Burnley, Fulham and Birmingham.
Adam Hammill for £400 k! Are you mad! He's just signed a new 3 year deal with Liverpool so will cost over a million at least considering he is one of the most promising players in English football.
Kyel Reid isn't owned by Wolves! He was on loan from West Ham and Wolves are very keen to make the move permanent! He has been sensational for Wolves so why would he want to swap Premierleague football with West Ham or Wolves to get involved in a relagation battle in the Championship!
Campbell–Ryce wanted by Wolves. I grant that he is a good player but not a Premierleague player!
He is most probably going to leave anyway because he has outgrown the club. He'll probably go to someone a bit higher in the table. Roy Keane is interested to revamp his Ipswich.

"I have it on good info that Sven is going to Pompey and he will need players so with Arab cash Tevez is coming as is Damian Duff and from MU and NU he will get Ronaldinho from Milan and V.Bommel from Bayern Taiwo will comefrom Marseille and Dembele from AZ in the Netherlands he will need an assistant who will be Bergkamp and from Ajax will come Vermaelen and Emanuelson from Twente Elia will be there and Vagner–Love will come from CSKA Moscow". .

Are you having a laugh?! I am a Pompey fan, and I for one am being very realistic about things for now! 1) The takeover is not even complete yet. 2) Sven could be off to Sporting Lisbon. 3) Why the hell would players like Tevez and Ronaldinho want to make a jump to a team like us right now? We don't even have a new stadium in the pipe line, let alone a decent training ground. It will take years to build a team that can challenge for Europe and push the top 4. Man City = Prime example of having loads of money but being able to buy some of the worlds best players. I also fear we may have already lost Glen Johnson, anyone pushing for Champions league football should be given a chance to go for it.
Beckford & cisse to hull?
Chelsea will start investing in youth to bring the average age down.Adam Johnson will be bought from Boro for around 6m,Arnautovic will be signed for 12.5m,Prosenik has already signed and chelsea are also looking at simon kjaer. The main signings will bezhirkov, pirlo, ribery, and ibra. drogba, anelka, kalou, malouda, ballack, deco, pizarro and carvalho.
Im not related to anyone in the game, apart from my uncle who runs a sunday league team lol, i have no connections nor have i come across real madrids transfer plans on a bus, its simple, i've heard rumours and ive read official stories, what i've done is used some common sense and tell you guys what i think are strong possibilities for Manchester United FC.

Carlos tevez – okay every story and bit of speculation is suggesting Tevez is on his way out, however from what i've read i believe united will manage to find some kind of arrangement that will make the player a permanant fixture among the roster, i don't know how, i don't know what, i don't even know if it will happen.

Cristiano Ronaldo – I believe he is out, i think the madrid deal was struck last summer, from what ive read over the past year in various newspapers all seems to be the same, all fee's and terms all seem to match, not all these journalists could be wrong surely, i do think he'll go and i also think he will mature and become a better player there whereas united will find another superstar from somewhere.

Michael Carrick – i've read no stories about the Ex Spurs wizard but i do think he'll leave along with scholes, both are exceptional talents and you'll find out more behind this as you read on.

Danielle De Rossi – this man surprisingly hasnt been linked in any big transfer saga's, but from what i believe and in all honestly im never far wrong is that United will land the Roma ace for around 15 million, a defensive Midfielder that has the ability to pass the ball aswell or better than Iniesta, so maybe a great signing? i think he will make way for the carrick departure.

Juninho– this one is really picking up speed lately, many fans have spoke about this deal and now the papers are starting to bring this deal up, im not sure whether it will happen, but with ronaldo's exit imminent we need a set piece master aswell as us in need of another world class CM could he be the man? the man is 34 years old but still can probably cut it for atleast a year giving anderson a chance to mature, im sure we'll be seeing him in the premier league next season.

Giuseppe Rossi – as far as i know this deal is done, from what i understand and with a bit of common sense. Nani is believed to be on his way out of old trafford on a loan basis, well why not to Villareal they need a new winger and we want our CF back, 18 million buy out and a nani loan option to sweeten the deal, very very likely he'll be playing his trade along side rooney next season.

Luis Antonio Valencia – again i believe this deal is done, with no more L/R wingers up for grabs, he could be the man to replace ronaldo, okay it'll take alot for anyone to be 'CR7' but i think he has the potential to be a great winger, and hopefully a manchester united winger.

David Bentley – this deal shocked me, but if you think about it the winger/CM is extremely similar to that of David Beckham, and a bargain at 3–6 million pounds with wage demands of 40 thousand a week maximun, he could be a great signing, i hope this deal does go through as im one of the very few that still rates the Maestro as one of the best wingers around, lets hope we see him kicking a ball on the right side of manchester.

Glen Johnson – a potential deal that has sped up over the last month, with No real guaranteed place at anfield and even less chance of regular success, why wouldn't he jump ship to arguably the best side in the world? with neville and brown both injury prone and Rafael not quite there, also having O'shea as back up he'd be 1st choice for sure, i don't think he'd mature enough at anfield under Benitez although being a united supporter i would say that, but who knows, right? all we can do is hope.

Thats all i have for you guys today, thanks for reading.

COYS. Walakapow.
Mr. A Wenger will have a big summer shake up this year re–signing both Thiery Henry AND Patrick Vieira. Henry will be joined by Yaya Toure in a deal that see's Emmanuel Adebayor head to Barca. Also on the shopping list are Ryan Babel and Gareth Barry who may join from Liverpool and Aston Villa respectively. Steve Mandanda will join from Marseille, as well as Joe Lewis joining from Peterborough as back up goalkeeper. Hatem Ben Arfa is another target and Matthiea Flamini is yet another player who may return after being unable to secure a place in Milan's midfield.
Another big deal in the pipeline is an exchange between Jan–Klaas Huntelaar and Robin van Persie.
Leaving Emirates will be Mikael Silvestre to Celtic, Tomas Rosicky to Borrusia Dortmund, Emmanuel Eboue to Roma and Manuel Almunia to Celta Vigo. Lukasz Fabianski will be loaned out as will Johan Djourou and Amaury Bischoff. Armand Traore will begin the new season in the first team squad for pre–season as will Kerrea Gilbert, Jay Simpson, Fran Merida and Jack Wilshere.
Reading will sell star players James Harper and Stephen Hunt to Newcastle United.
FIrstly Arsenal will get rid off;
– Bishoff(700,000)
– Diaby(6million)– Inter/ Aston Villa
– senderos(£5million)– german team, like wolfsburg
– gallas(6million)– PSG or Juventus
– Adebayor(21million)– ac milan
– Mikael Silvestre(850,000)– french side. .like lyon
– [Possibly]~Van Persie(£17–19million)–as he is struggling to sign a new conrtact–possibly to Barca or Inter

BRUCE CATS COMPENSATION AGREED

Steve Bruce is on the verge of becoming Sunderland manager after Wigan accepted a compensation package offered by the north-east club.

The Latics boss, born just a few miles outside Newcastle, was identified as the number one target by Black Cats chairman Niall Quinn and it now appears he has got his man.

Wigan chairman Dave Whelan stressed he would not let his manager leave on the cheap, having paid £3million to release Bruce from his Birmingham contract in November 2007.

Whelan has now accepted a suitable fee from their Premier League rivals, although it is believed to be less than the £3million Wigan were looking for.

A compromise was reached as both clubs were looking for a swift conclusion to negotiations with pre-season training due to start in just over a month.

Sunderland officials are in Portugal to speak to Bruce, who is on holiday, but it is not expected negotiations over personal terms will be a stumbling block.

Bruce, who turned down the Newcastle job in the past, will take over at the Stadium of Light at the best possible time after American businessman Ellis Short assumed total control last week.

The former Birmingham and Crystal Palace manager is likely to have access to a substantial transfer fund but Short expects a return on his money.

Sunderland escaped relegation by only two points last month but the new owner has already targeted a top-10 finish next season.

That will present a new challenge for Bruce, whose one and a half campaigns at Wigan - and previous top-flight campaigns with Birmingham - were primarily about guaranteeing survival.

One thing Bruce has experience of is getting the best out of the resources he is given.

Despite a limited budget at the JJB Stadium he kept the club up in 2008 having taken over with them deep in relegation trouble and came very close to getting Wigan into Europe for the first time in their history this season.

They ended the campaign 11th, the club's second-best top-flight finish, but Bruce admitted he was hamstrung by having to sell midfielder Wilson Palacios and striker Emile Heskey to Tottenham and Aston Villa respectively in January.

With winger Antonio Valencia destined for an £18million exit this summer, Paul Scharner touting for a move and just one first-team striker on the books Bruce was facing another rebuilding exercise at the JJB Stadium.

There has also been speculation Bruce had to slash the wage bill by £4million for the start of next season, which could have led to more players being shown the door.

Sunderland have offered Bruce an exit route from that, one he is likely to seize, as he looks to take the next step in his career.

Wigan have already been linked with Swansea boss Roberto Martinez - whom Celtic have made an enquiry about - Peterborough's Darren Ferguson and former manager Paul Jewell.
