Do you think now is the time for a general election to be called?
If we are going to 'reform' parliament lets do it properly - goodbye Brown.

Your thoughts?

i think that every MP who defraud the tax payer should be sacked and arrested.

if anyone of us defraud the tax payer, we would be in jail for years!

why aren't they. they're an MP as a job, i have job but i don't defraud the tax payer!:mad:

Now is not the time for an election among all the expenses issues and everything else
I think the date should be left until early June 2009, the last possible date, and it will also give Labour a better chance over The Conservatives.

ummm because it was all legal? Reform the laws to make it illegal and make the process more transparent.

no it wasn't legal... defrauding the taxpayer, which is what they did, is major-ly against the law!

nah dude... it was all legit. If it was illegal they'd called the cops in. They haven't. They are returning the cash because it looks bad NOT because it was against the law. It wasn't fraud.
The prob with the UK system is that none of the expenses are regularly published ... the process isn't transparent so it's open to abuse. Unlike here in oz where all mp expenses etc are on the public record. That's why the speaker was made to quit... he always blocked reforms to make it more transparent and open.... he would always block FOI ( freedom of information) claims put in by the media etc. This only came out because someone leaked a disc the the telegraph. So the problem isn't a law issue but about making the whole thing more open to scrutiny.

I don't think right now is the time for an election some people might not vote after the scandels of the pm's right now. So with little people voting small parties and scary parties my get more power (BMP for example)

We need time for people to get over the expenses and to come with a solution then have an election. Hopefully by then the conservative party will crash and burn. I can only hope
