How about no.
The new members have been generall good with few exceptions and trolls aren't their fault.
It's not fair on people who could be good posters.
I really hate all this anti-newbie stuff. =\

It would be a bad idea, most new members are good as long as they don't text talk, I *****ing HATE text talk.

How would you propose to make it harder though? Plus making it harder might dissuade potential good members not to sign up. Most trolls get banned very quickly so I don't think it's worth it.

Maybe people shouldn't be allowed to sign up during the BB hype season? say 1 May - 1 week after launch?
At would stop trolls. And it would clear the forums for current members?
it would be at the top of the TiBB page that you have. ie. 5 DAYS LEFT TO REGISTER! so no excuses.

i suggest a sign up via email then they get there password and user name then they have to wait a day or too befor they can start to post then if there banned they wont be able to sign up again because they used there email!

JohnnyBB. Multiple Emails!
Bad idea, because half of members join during the hype. I remember I personally found this site looking for hype news.

Yeah I agree with Fom, I found it during hype I think or just after it.

When a new member joins, there first twenty-five or so posts should have to be approved by moderators.

Moderators can't handle the forum as it is, never mind adding more work load for them.
