Last year we had none. Only Mario and Lisa, who really were not what I would classify as 'old'. I enjoy having a couple of older ones in there, it is boring ahving a load a fake teens and wannabes. Also, the older ones usually segregate themselves and can be more unpopular.
Adds some dimension and variety.
What do you think?

She was 43 or something? Not really old per se, and very untypical.

I predict 18, 18, 19, 20, 22, 24, 24, 25, 25, 27, 28, 29, 33, 41
This to me is totally unrepresentative.

Older housemates are good because they wind up the younger ones like going to bed early.

i will be gutted if they are all under 25, it will really limit the show potential. It will be like the time they did teen bb - a total freakin disaster!!!

That better not be the case. If I want sexier, I'll watch porn. I want to watch BB which is about a variety of people, not just sexy ones.

It'll be a disaster if everyone is in the same age group, because that defeats the purpose of the show. The original concept was to put a bunch of strangers together from different walks of life. How can that be achieved by putting a bunch of similar people in?
They also have a tendency to put in older HMs who act like they're still young. Again, this defeats the purpose. If they're going to vary the age range, then they ought to put in people who act their actual age.

The most entertaining HMs seem to fall in the 35-34 age bracket IMO. Any younger and they tend to be annoying, and older HMs are generally boring. There are exceptions though - Samanda were more bubbly and fun than annoying and Lesley was witty and entertaining. But generally, I think that BB should try and stick to a 25-34 aged house; any younger HMs should be counter-balanced by an older HM to keep the balance.
I'd like someone like Derek, but who is a bit more lively (not at Belinda levels though). It's great when we get a range of ages with the housemates, it's rubbish when there are only two/three housemates who are older than 25 and don't feel as though they fit in and tend to isolate themselves, it happens every year and I think the only way to get that to stop would be to have half of the housemates as teenagers/early twenties and the other half to be in their thirties and upwards, BB has never tried it out and it might end up being massively popular.

I would like to see a few over-50s in the house.
They are generally (but not always) capable of holding an interesting conversation which is based on a little more experience than reading Heat magazine every week.
Of course any over-50 who volunteers has to be a little bit strange or very ignorant.

I dont think there should be more older housemates. Mostly young people watch the show and mostly young people win the show. All the main housemates from previous series are young (Brian, Samanda, Rex, Kat, Rachel, Pete, Nikki). The simple answer is, younger housemates are more energetic, and the more energy, the more events, the more events, the more ratings.
