Basically, just a thread to clear up what I've been thinking about this place for a while now. It is my opinion, I don't give two kicks in the insult removed what anybody else thinks, after all this is what a forum is for.

Anyway, I think this forum has changed drastically from since I first joined, which was in 2007, and for the worse. Since then, this place has transformed from a forum of cool, laid back, easy going people to have an intelligent discussion with, to an utter shambles of a forum, to a place where people are verbally attacked for no reason. Many new members are to blame for this I believe. Members such as Stu and Matt are really the only members here which I see contribute to the forum in one way or another, and also I believe that they feel the same way as me about this subject. During the past couple of years/months, cliques have formed on the forum, with people ganging up against each other, which is pretty sad considering they've never met some of these people in their whole lives. Secondly, there are some deluded people on here who seem to have no lives at all apart from TiBB, which is annoying, but above that, is actually very worrying. These people should really think about going out, getting girl/boyfriends, and spending less time taking the "games" and "competitions" on here so seriously.

All in all, this forum needs a good cleanup from the mods, who, I might add with all due respect, are shadows of what they used to be during 07- early 08, as we never see your authority any more in my opinion. I know people might tell me "well why do you come on here then", and the answer is, I like Big Brother. I want to keep up to date with the most recent developements in BB, but recently that's been a very hard job to do with all the unnessesscary threads/members.

:bored:

I'd appreciate others' views on this subject, and I'll respect all opinions.

Unless your paying my gas bills here, I have no reason to start cleaning out your chimney but ... well said!

I think the problem just comes from a huge influx of young, somewhat naive, overzealous members. Many of whom this is their first forum.

Comes with the nature of the forums subject matter I suppose. Big Brother has a huge young audience. Sometimes I feel a huge generation gap in this place, especially nowdays. I think alot of it is simply down to bad luck/timing with older members leaving too.

Actually, I am with Aiom on that one! Ive been getting more and more annoyed by this forum al the time. ANd yes its mainly because of idiotic thireads that gets opened about nothing at all, or about personal conversations outside the forum, like we actually care!
I agree, its been sucking a lot, but I try to just reply to the threads that interest me!

Yep! Same here with the generation gap, although I'm only 16. You just can't seem to have a civilised discussion in this place anymore without certain members posting useless comments or bickers, as evidenced by .Andy.

The difference with you, from what I've seen anyway, is that you can actually have a discussion with people without bickering on here. Plus, I don't recall having seeing you make useless threads.

I was thinking of that earlier and your right. Beneath it all though you still have a soul. Your entire gimmick is not being a camped up post ***** who lives through a Disney drip feed. As evident by your awesome taste in music.

ITs not about you Annie at all. I havent seen any evidence of that. I think its about a lot of other people, and the way they act around the forum in general. Some of them are all about groups and clicks. ANd I am not saying anyone in particular. Like the brotherhood people, I know are just having a laugh and arent serious. YOu dont see them go on MSN and Gossip, then bring it back here and things like that. Those are especially for me, the most annoying ones!

And Andy, I dont know why youre attacking the OP, who wasnt even reffering to you in the first place dude!

I respect you for making this post and for at least somewhat naming names, not like these tedious posts of 'some members' do this and 'certain members' to that. If you're going to lecture then have the balls to come out with it and direct it at the people you're talking about.

I'd be an idiot if I thought I wasn't apart fo what a lot of people are complaining about. I also think though that people take this place to seriously. It's an internet forum, naturally I'm going tog et on with soem more than others and naturally I'm going to spend time with them and ahve a laugh.

It's harsh to call members unnecessary. By the sounds of your post if it was up to you we'd have a guardian standing by us with a whip and chain before we pressed 'Post Reply.'

It's a Big Brother forum, yes, but the General & Chat & Games sections wouldn't be there if they were not meant to be used, therefore I don't understand your definition of unnecessry threads.

It's a database at the end of the day, either lighten up or don't use it.

Forums are constantly changing; people need to change with it, because it's the people on it who cause the change. I take issue with you saying "Members such as Stu and Matt are really the only members here which I see contribute to the forum in one way or another" because there are hundreds of people logging in every day and posting; the two of them can't be the only people contributing.

But most of the members are so disposable nowadays, they join and by three days later they've left. We have no new solid members anymore, they join for the Big Brother hype and leave. & I think that TiBBhas got its members so excluded into their cliques that unless a flood of new members come, it won't change for a very long time.

All you need to do tbh is keep out of the way if you don't like it. All the groups/gangs/whatever are annoying at times, yes, but only if you go in the threads / read what they are talking about!!

I joined, what, late 07, the only thing that has changed really is the members! It's still TiBB to me, life moves on yanno! Changes happen :3

If you can't not read everything, I hate to say it, but just leave the forum until they have gotten over it! Or, you could just press read bb-posts at the top, or just read general.. that has no pointless stuff in!

The op, is an insult in itself, its just not driect, and i don't think its all that bad sometimes.

Though part of it i have to agree, sometimes certain members post and someone personally attacks them then you get about 4 + people follow just putting little things like "ikr"
Especially when people were picking on harry that bugged me it was unfair and unnecessary.

And the thing me and andy was doing was meant to be a joke, as the stuff the usual comes up when some things are posted and people disagree, it was not way aimed at op.

personally I don't think it's that bad. if you don't like what some people post or the way they post stick them on ignore and be done with it.

and as for the hoohah that happened earlier involving me and 2 others, that was ONE thread no worse than some of the crap that other people have posted since I've been on this forum, it had no direct audience and we weren't targetting anyone with it, and people took it as a personal attack for some reason.

people take things faaar too seriously sometimes.

Another thing is that on this forum, there are different members of all ages, you need to remember that when reading through threads. Some people will be rather childish and show it. Some people will be young but act really mature in their posts. And some people are older and just act like children.
The members are what make a forum and they will always be different and act differently.

As hannah has said, if you dont like anything that someone says, stick them on ignore and you dont need to read what they are saying.

Tibb has changed but you know what, it's still fun. There's plenty of members that make valid points and that statement you made Axiom put me right off your point. I don't think there's any such thing as cliques on this forum, people just like talking to certain people more then others it's not a crime. Although you made some fair points you've presented them badly. TIBB's become harsher but a large part of that is due to it being onseason. Tibb's much better offseason.

Not trying to argue with you or anything but that point about people taking tibb too seriously is a bit of an oxymoron considering you've started up a thread of this nature. :joker:

Just enjoy tibb for what it is.

I completely agree with you (for once, knowing our little conflits we've had before).
TIBB was much better in 2006/07 and I'm not afraid to say it. The forum was less conflictual and more debating focussed.
But forums change and we can't help that I believe and right now, it's not the worst we got, there have been bad bad times.

The forum is also much better off-season even though TIBB is Big brother axed, because we get to know the members a lot more, the majority of the newbies/insiders/trolls leave it so it seems we get the best of the new members every year once BB is finished.

About the cliques, well, like in life, people tend to get along better with other people than others, nothing bad about it. I can see where the problem about them is coming from and why it could make new members feel uncomfortable, but at the end of the day, we'll always have arguments and little groups.

What I am saying, is that we should enjoy as it is and stop moaning about it, or try to improve it, but complaining will never get things done unless you do something about it.

Regarding the 'forum cleaning', I feel like I am listening to a certain Hitler but I will keep my mouth shut on that. Mods can't 'clean' the forums, otherwise, half of the community would be banned right now because we have all argued at least once or telling people insults.

You've been there for about a year. You don't have the experience to say such things when obviously, TIBB was almost the same one year ago.
I've been there for 3 years and I can tell (as long with other members who've been there in a long time) that TIBB has changed: some parts for the better and some for the worst.

It's went through various changes since I joined.

Forums are like that. Members leave all the time and new members join, then things shuffle around.

There are people on here who I wouldn't have given the time of day a few months ago, and now I enjoy chatting with them. Sometimes you have to look beyond the facade to see the person behind it and then decide if you like them or not.

As for the playground antics... I'm responsible for a lot of that, so I won't sit here and criticise anyone else for it.

Yeah, I'm sure the OP didn't mean it in a harsh way, but it was a very sweeping statement.

True, Zee I apologise for that statement.

Although the issue with the new members not sticking around is perhapsdue to one or two reasons. One reason I believe this is so, is because after a new member logs in and posts very amateurly, people say "****ing post in the right section" and really start criticising them, when they've only been on the forum for perhaps a day. Also, if a new member comes online and posts, some of them receive the old classic "omidayz yew must bee a secund account ov anuvva memba dat used 2 b ere" which is unfair. Fair enough if there is stand out evidence that that member is a second account of another, banned member, but if not, just let them join in. That is the way of making members stay.

This is exactly why some people, IMO, need to take a break from this forum to relieve their addiction to it because it really does seem that some of the members are obsessed with this forum, and talk more to friends whom they've met on here.

I meant the people who are obsessed with this place, namely people who, for example, joined in 2008 or 2009 and already have 5000+ or 10000+ posts and clearly have problems. The fact that I stood up and wanted to change this place is not taking it too seriously, I've just been finding it annoying for a while, like a wasp that keeps coming back after you thought you'd killed it. Surely if you found something annoying for a while, wouldn't you try and stop whatever it was no matter how small or insignificant?

I agree with the consensus. 2007 was epic. 90% of the established userbase were interesting, varied and hillarious. And it showed in the topics and posts. Now the forum feels really narrow. Unless your not wetting your pants everytime an eyeflash comes on screen, and unless your not an avid worshiper of celebrity culture, theirs very little you can do and a very small base you would feel compelled to talk to off the forum.

I think Damon hit the nail on the head with the 'disposable' business too.

I think that's a rather wide generalization. I take the games and competitions as a bit of fun, but I go out and I have a boyfriend etc.
You can't just generalize like that

If you have a problem with the moderators, message us. I try really hard actually and it really annoys me that no one can notice what work me, Ben and the others do behind the scenes. I don't see any problem with my authority. If we went further with it we'd be called oppressive and less people would visit TiBB. If someone breaks the rules but not enough to incur a ban, mods have our own system which we go through. No posts are ignored and the more rules broken which are logged the person is more likely to incur a ban

Comes with the nature of the forums subject matter I suppose. Big Brother has a huge young audience. Sometimes I feel a huge generation gap in this place, especially nowdays. I think alot of it is simply down to bad luck/timing with older members leaving too.

Stu it seems you spend more time complaining about this forum than joining in.

Both of the new mods are 'very young'.

I think it's a good thing though, because TiBB members cover a wide age-range, so it makes sense to reflect that in the staff. There are already members of staff in the older age-range, so adding some for the younger age-range balances things out.

And, to be fair, Sia and Ben are actually doing quite a good job of moderating without letting it change who they are on here.

Actualy, if you took a less biased slant on it, im appreciating the forum. But for the time I enjoyed it most. People tend to do that. Talk of sweeping generalisations, you just made one. One simple look back at yesterdays posts I made shows a whole load of general posts ... with maybe one or two posts complaining.

Especially when people were picking on harry that bugged me it was unfair and unnecessary.

I don't take a biased slant when it comes to my moderating, I'm just as happy to ban one of my good friends such as Hannah for saying something harsh than I am from banning someone I didn't like for saying something harsh.
Stu I don't want this to turn into an argument: but all I see you do IS complaining, or at least not attempting to overcome what you're complaining about. And I HAVE to read all your posts because I'm a moderator!

In fact, most of my negative posts are all in this thread. Amongst other things I posted on yesterday were topics such as but not limited to : Bonjela, GTA IV, bourbon biscuits, magic mushrooms, sitcoms, The Jonas Brothers, practical jokes, smileys.

Do these topics bother you too? I know they are serious topics that weigh heavily on the posting concious.
