Okay first things first - my knowledge of the world of gaming isn't vast. So forgive me if I forget a few consoles.
Secondly, I'm voting for nostalgia :p obviously the quality between the earlier consoles and today's new releases is staggering, but vote for which you enjoy(ed) most at the time.

N64 for me. Endless childhood memories of playing Goldeneye, Mario Kart, Mario Party and Banjo & Kazooie... even if the joystick did give me the occasional blister (especially in Mario Party :p)

Oh this tis a tough one:
PS3 - I still play and is great for blu ray movies
360 - Still play lots no way as good as the ps3 tho
Wii - Dont have one myself (sister has one ¬¬) Loads of fun, but after Wii Sports or Mario Cart its pretty much crap
SEGA MEGADRIVE OMFG i LOVED that when i was a kid it was like an innovation at the time.
PS2 - meh. good at the time
Voted for Sega Megadrive becasue at the time is was great !
Playstation for me. All down to nostalgia. Great memories of playing Final Fantasy VII and Metal Gear Solid. Im sure if I were young again in the noughties though, it would be the Xbox 360 all the way. It came from a weak first few years shrouded in doubt and **** hardware to become an absoloute beast of a console with a huge game catalogue. Plus anything at Sony's expense is bound to be fun. Because Sony hates you. And your family. Mind you MetalGearSolid4 and InFamous both look amazing. Beyond that, theirs no space in my house for a Blu-Ray player that also happens to play a few games.

This is hard. I couldn't pick a single one. I'd say;
16 Bit Generation: Super Nintendo
3D generation: Playstation
Next Generation: Playstation 2
This Generation: Xbox 360
Handheld: DS, that thing is godly.
I'm gonna vote for Super Nintendo. Street Fighter 2, Mario Allstars, Donkey Kong, Mario Kart racing, Mortal Kombat and other games delighted me many a time.
The Megadrive is still Godlike though.
Nice idea...
8-Bit Generation : Sega Master System [Shinobi, Phantasy Star]
16 Bit Generation: Sega Megadrive [Shinobi again, Streets Of Rage]
32-Bit generation: Playstation [Games already mentioned]
128 bit Generation: Playstation 2 [Timesplitters 2]
Da HD future: Xbox 360 [Crackdown, Saints Row 2, Oblivion]
Handheld: Could never get into handhelds :(.

You know their is a free remake (http://www.bombergames.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1012) available to download? Fantastic piece of software. Contains all the original sprites and levels and whatnot, and a reworked soundtrack.
