I haven't seen this anywhere so I might as well post it. I was thinking that with Endemol and Channel 4 constantly mentioning the credit crunch, the "massive bombshell" that's going to be revealed on launch night is that there's no prize money. What does anyone think of that?

Only trouble is I could see a lot of housemates leaving because of it.

The idea I guess would be to get the money-seeking ones out, but Australia did that in 2007 and noöne left.

Yeah, it would be interesting, it's a good theory.

It would probably be better to say no prize fund like someone has said already half-way through the series, but then when the winner comes out tell them that they have actually won the £100,000. Then if anyone had left they'd be gutted.

I wish wouldnt do big twists at the beginning the whole wedding twist last year resulted in steph leaving earlier which i think she could of been a great housemate and gone on alot further. They should leave the twist to atleast a couple of weeks in let us get to know the housemates first :bored:.

This would be BRILLIANT in the week before the final! It would REALLY shake up what usually seems to be a 'boring' end-of-series!

Why? BB is a gameshow with a prize, what's wrong with not bothering to play if there is no prize?

Do people really think housemates go in "for the experience"? :joker:

Well it didn't have an impact on BB8 when they thought there was no prize fund, the fact Steph came out of BB9 after a week and made £100k from interviews says it all tbh.

Plus £100k is hardly breaking the bank; it costs about £50,000 to advertise on Channel 4 so they'd get it back in 2 adverts anyway.

Would that pull in any viewers? No.

yeah housemates think they can gain more than the 100k by exposing themselves on big brother!!! lol

i dont know.. i think there should be a few twists with the money though..

wait imagine if.. the 1st one to be evicted for the 100k!! LOL

BB would certainly have to wait until all the housemates were inside before dropping the bombshell, and not allow any of them to leave unless evicted!
Interesting idea though.
Housemates in recent series have been more interested in what 'media' deals they are likely to land after their time in the BB house.

This whole "credit crunch/bare house" thing will turn off viewers, nobody wants to see that.
Maybe the house will change... Gone off topic there.

Hmmm maybe the "massive bombshell" is that the housemates pick a winner on the night and the winner walks off with the cash, and the housemates think that the prize fund is gone, well some might think it's gone.

i don't like that idea, that's a poor opening night twist. If the whole theme of this year is going to be about the credit crunch that sucks, because nobody at all wants to see that.

i think it would be better if they did a task where the longer they took to complete the more prize money they lose... but make it impossible so they think they have lost it all.... but its all fake and the money is still there!

Maybe they have to earn their money! The could loose it for doing stuff wrong and they can win it by winning tasks..?
