The Director (:yuk:) of the original film is planning a 'reboot'. The film's gonna be about Buffy in High School again and will not feature any of the TV show cast. It's been slammed by Joss and Anthony Stewart Head. The director mutilated the original film from deviating from the script too much so this new one is bound to be awful.

Buffy is the most amazing show!!
But without Joss?? Thats a bit weird.

Also people keep saying the 1992 movie was rubbish, i actually enjoyed it, was funny to watch.

It was more of a guilty pleasure though really. Buffy can't work without Joss though. He wrote every episode of Buffy and Angel ever. his style of writing can't be replicated and the Buffy film will suffer for it. It'll end up some tweeny bopper film because of the success of Twilight (Which I like don't get me wrong but Buffy isn't and shouldn't be like Twilight).

IKR.

I'm not going to watch it because the Buffyverse for me is the one that includes Willow, Xander, Giles, Dawn etc. I've only seen the film a couple of times and it looks pretty bad to be honest. They're really just milking the whole 'vampire-phase' which is alive right now due to Twilight.

I think that if there was a movie with the original characters/cast, it could do quite well. But with Sarah's pregnancy and the cast growing older I don't think it will happen. It should therefore be kept that way.

I think they'll definately have a few elements of the series in, I can see Angel or a character like him being in so they can milk the Twilight phase. If they want it to work they need to bring as many backstage crew from the show back as possible. Without Joss they'll need as many people who are familiar with the Buffyverse as possible to keep to authentic to that world.

I can see why they are using a new cast, and I don't think that's a bad thing if they cast well. It just can't be like the original film.

ugh, but its the idea of some little woman coming in and completely reworking the Buffy character which Sarah spent 7 years playing.

In fairness though SMG has given up the role, she's said in the past that she doesn't know if she could recreate Buffy now. I'm not against recasting since I think it can work well, look at the Dark Knight everyone thought Heath Ledger was going to be awful when he was announced as the Joker because he didn't suit the role.

I don't mind it being something new as long as it shares nothing with the 1992 film. A new Buffy might turn out better then we thought...just as long as it has nothing to do with that film.
