When (if you do) did everyone start smoking? im interested to see because when I told my sister I was 11 when I started she thought I was scum.

I only smoke when stressed, which is about 5 times a day, so i'm not a chain smoker or nothing, but everytime I tell anyone when I started they look at me in disgust!

If you go to an undeveloped country, they should be quite cheap.

I was 8. I caught my sister smoking when she was 12 and threatened to tell on her if she didn't let me have one. I remember coughing and her feeding me polo mints as she thought this would help stop it. :tongue:

i have friends the same some have given into it after quitting and restarted others are like me try to resist it

The first one at 14 then I became a regular heavy smoker at the age of 16. Never stopped since. Something big will have to happen to me in order to stop but I won't on my own decision.

Why do people start smoking in the first place? Probably because all their mates did it and were peer pressured into it.
Smokers are nothing but weak-minded (you can argue that all you like, it won't change my mind).

I first smoked when I was around twelve, when I started none of my friends smoked, I was the first, so I don't blame peer pressure, because there was none, I just blame myself for being weak. I don't smoke anymore I stopped when I was 14... I would never go near them anymore.. I don't mind if people smoke around me... I just don't like it.

I had never had a punishment in high school, only been late twice in the 3 years that I have been there and I have never had a detention.

Jeez Firewire I don't even smoke and I found that offensive! I know nurses,doctors and some extremely intelligent people who all smoke. 2 of Take That smoke. It's not nothing to do with intelligence.

i started smoking before any of my friends did, because i remember finding a pack of b&h gold in my wardrobe from when I'd stolen them from my dad like 2 years before to stop him smoking and my babysitter was asleep so i snuck into the garden and nearly choked to death lol
i took them into school and me and all my friends went into maths all dizzy
so i suppose i was the pressure-r... lol!

I don`t smoke but when I was 11 I had a 'draw' from one,then I never smoked again until I was 13 when I smoked like 1 or 2 becuase,idk its what you do,try things.Then my friends got hooked at around 14-15,I joined in for about a month then decided it was disgusting and pointless and stopped.Then other times Iv smoked have just been random nights where ive had one or two when Ive been drinking on nights out but I dont think Ive had one for like a year and a half or something and I probs never will again.

I just have a passionate hate for cigarettes. I'm asthmatic because my father smoked when I was a baby. He's asthmatic too but continued to smoke until very recently.

i was 15 so older than some my first was in a game of truth or dare i actually didnt like my first one it near on killed me with the coughing i then left it alone for a couple of weeks and then for some reason one day just brought a packet i was the first in my group of friends to start (the one in truth or dare someone stole off their mum for the game:hugesmile: ) so wasnt peer pressure for me although i think i may have been responsible for a least one of the friends starting cos i did it and that was because he was only one who looked old enough to buy them so he often got them for me

Im 16 now, and started at 13. I was because my girlfriend started that I did, now im hooked :(
I first had a smoke when I was about 14, my girlfriend at the time tried to teach me and I thought it was cool so I did it. Then I gave up then I kind of eased back into it as a social thing, it wasn't peer pressure as such but just something you catch on doing when everyone else is outside smoking, I don't smoke now gave up like 4 months ago (Only smoke a little anyway) but I still smoke when drunk. Not smoked in about 2 months though.

I just decided that I wanted to try it so I got someone to buy me a pack, although I'm asthmatic it never turned me off them, I also made more of an effort in PE in school because my PE teacher knew I smoked and I didn't want to let him down just because I smoked...

I first tried it when I was 15. It became a serious habit when 17 though. I'm not a "proper" smoker though I don't think. I sometimes go for weeks without smoking. However recently exam stress has seen a dramatic increase in my daily fag intake.

I started at eleven and I'm now 15.
I always said from about the age of 9 I would try it. So my best mate at the time who smoked offered me some of it. I tried it and liked it. I smoke with stress or when everyone else around me is.
Its never really a bad thing. i put it this way, cigarettes or more serious things, i know what I would prefer.

I had a few packets when I was 12. Then grew out of it. I know a few close family and friends who have nearly died becaue of this addiction, so I have to say Please do try and stop if you can, and hopefully have a healthy longer life as a result!

I only smoke about 5 a day at most, so I dont worry about health too much, and after ive gotten my degree in phsycology i'll take a year to just relax before I become a lawyer, I'll prob's try to quit in that year. Right now cigarette's are keeping me sane. :thumbs:

id rather have a shorter life where i could do what i wanted than live longer whilst craving a cigarette every day.. my grandad gave up when he was 30 and a week before he died [he was about 85] he said "can I please have a fag now, ive been waiting over half my life"
