I think it most definitely contributes to it. Though, to be fair, a lot of people liked him before hand so it's not the sole reason for his popularity.

I've liked Freddie since about the 2nd day, but if him getting picked on wins some sympathy fans then that's great. He certainly doesn't deserve the treatment he's getting. He is a sweet guy, and so far has taken it good-naturedly. I just hope he doesn't end up walking because of being picked on.
