I think Nadal or Federer will win cant really see any of the others but would like Novak Murray or Roddick to win
Murray is 11/4 to win in corbetts
Nadal a very tempting 4/1
Andy roddick is 20/1 if your interested in putting a few quid on him david

V tempting I thought Nadal would have been the fave
Don't bet on Nadal people! Doesn't look likely that he'll be playing
Murray has been drawn in the top half of the draw, which means Nadal is the proposed semi-final match up for him. This looks very promising! C'mon Murray! :dance2:
Cmon Murray!!!!
I hope he wins but I can see him being eliminated in the Semis by Roger Federer. :(

Wont happen. He has Nadal in the semi's if Nadal doesn't pull out and doesn't make a magical turn around in health!

Murray's prospective route through the draw, according to the seedings, would see him face Kendrick, Ernests Gulbis, Viktor Troicki, Marat Safin and Gilles Simon, before Nadal in the semi-finals and Federer in the final.
The draw was not kind to the British men, with Dan Evans taking on Nikolay Davydenko, James Ward to face Fernando Verdasco, Alex Bogdanovic up against Tomas Berdych, and Josh Goodall drawn against Michael Llodra.
Among the women, Mel South will play Mathilde Johansson, Katie O'Brien takes on Iveta Benesova, Georgie Stoop plays Vera Zvonareva, and Elena Baltacha will meet Alona Bondarenko.
Defending women's champion Venus Williams will play Switzerland's Stefanie Voegele in the first round, while 15-year-old British wildcard Laura Robson takes on Daniela Hantuchova.
Robson will become the youngest player in the women's singles since Martina Hingis in 1995, and last year's junior champion will defend her girls' title in the second week at the All England Club.

Nadals not going to defend his title
So its prob gonna be Federer who will win unless Murray or Novak provide a shock
Safin will beat murray
you heard it here first
Roger Murray final? Looks very possible!
Murray's half of the draw seems pretty easy now without Nadal... the bottom half of the draw, however, looks pretty tough!
I need Roger to to get 15 Grand Slams...
I am quietly confident that he will clinch Wimbledon... Andy and Novak are HUGE contenders.
I'm backing roger all the way.
federer 8/11 odds on in some places now

i'm backing murray and not just with my mouth with cold hard cash in the bookies and if summat happens so he doesn't 2010 he will. he will defo win if not this year then next. he's more than good enough to win it and i back him all the way come on murray
Former semi-finalist Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus has withdrawn from Wimbledon with a knee injury.
The 24-year-old, who lost to Rafael Nadal in the 2006 semis, picked up the injury during his match against Raemon Sluiter in the Netherlands this week.
Baghdatis, the world number 95, will be replaced in the Wimbledon draw by Karol Beck of Slovakia.
Gael Monfils was forced to withdraw from Wimbledon on Thursday with a wrist injury sustained at Queen's Club.
The Frenchman, seeded number 14 at the All England Club, pulled out of last week's Aegon Championships after his second-round victory over Andrey Golubev.

Yes Robson was under the Spotlight

Thats typical when i dont watch they start playing better
Bloody Djokovic always takes his time on court! shame for Benneteau to lose in 4 though he was playing very well. Currently watching Our Brits losing  really enjoyed Stoop last night, can't wait to see the deciding set for that match later on!

Djokovic to win !! :bouncy:
Kimiko Date Krumm is doing pretty well, a reminder that Wozniacki won Eastbourne just last week and Date Krumm has managed to keep toe to toe with her!
EDIT: She has just taken the first set 7-5! Not bad for a 38 year old!
EDITEDIT: Wozniacki has taken the second set 6-3, looks much more commanding now!
EDITEDITEDIT: Wozniacki wins. 6-1 in the final set.
Katie O'brien has been knocked out by Iveta Benesova 6-2 5-7 6-4. Very predictable end to a good match!
Keothavong has just started, up against world number 80 Patricia Mayr (AUT)

I enjoy watching women's tennis, not just because their women but the game has a good flow to it and they are superstars..
Bad bad day for Brits! as Keothavong, Evans, Goodall, Stoop, O'Brien all fail to make the second round! This following the departure of Ward, South and Robson yesterday.
Murray, Baltacha and Bogdanovic are the only Brits left to play their first round matches, can we dare hope for more than just one to go through though?
Bogdanovic and murray will go through i will say

Elena Baltacha just won   (formerly from Ukraine and Scotland but she'll do!) Aww I'm so chuffed Elena just got through! My whole family were just cheering every point!
Also BigSister, it was Chris Eaton last year.
Also.. I am so bloody relieved that Ivanovic got through.. that was such a terrible display from her  I need to see something different from her to feel at all comfortable! Like last year's second round she struggles through! (with a very kind net cord!)

I love Tennis, I haven't watched much Wimbledon this year though. I'm glad that Murray got through but it's a shame that Nadal is injured, his matches with Federer are electrifying.
Dezzy get on it! Start watching
I'm still buzzing from Baltacha's win, she has Kristen Flipkens next from belgium. I think if she plays like that she'll do pretty well

Im really enjoying Wimbledon this year prob would have enjoyed it more if Nadal was playing but beggers cant be choosers hehe
Yeah I wish Nadal was in the tournament.
I watched Murray's Match with Kendrick yesterday, glad he got through :D
Kendrick was quite tough and I'm glad murray got the workout because Gulbis is another difficult player.
Federer is playing today. i hope he loses lol.
Gulbis is a pretty good player but I shouldn't think he will give Murray as much of a workout like Kendrick did.
Sharapova is in trouble at the moment on center court. Amazing display by Gisela Dulko, she has only ever taken 3 games off of Sharapova in the only two previous matches! 6-2 the first set and she's 3-0 up in the second. I personally would love to see a big upset today
EDIT: She's got back into her rhythm now! 4:3 to Sharapova, with a break
EDITEDIT: Sharapova takes 6 straight games to equal the match, a set a piece
Last years semi finalists Jie Zheng and Rainer Shuettler have both been defeated in the second round.
Sharapova could be going out :(
Lauren
24-06-2009, 02:23 PM
Woo Dulko!
Sharapova is out!!!! C'mon Dulko!!
That was an awesome ending as well, Sharapova fought well but Dulko kept her nerve and just kept getting those serves in!
Silence is golden!
BigSister
24-06-2009, 02:24 PM
She is out now Andy!
Kristof Vliegen is doing well! Keeping toe to toe with Verdasco. Set a piece 6-7 7-6
Who is everyone tipping for the womens single this year?
Well the top half of the draw, the semi finalists could be Wozniacki, Kuznetsova or Venus and
the bottom half of the draw, semi finalists could be Dementieva (if she keeps her cool) Azarenka or Serena but keep an eye out for Razzano and Petrova. The bottom half of the draw seems a lot more difficult.
But if I had a gun to my head and HAD to say who I think will win, I'll go for Venus!

Watched the Federer/Garcia-Lopez match thought Rodge was very dominant and easily won, which is a shame as i like Garcia-Lopez and hoped he would of put up more of a challenge.
Really enjoying wimbledon this year, watching as much as poss :)
I haven't been online in AGES.
So this is like my first post about Wimbledon.
I have watched almost every match, it's difficult because the doubles are all on the red button so I have had to watch them on the internet... I have watched all the major "exciting" matches. Obviously Roger, Andy, Novak...
I'm still looking for a Roger win... 15 Grand Slams, would be amaze. If he wins Wimbledon this year he can get back to #1 then he only needs to win wimbledon 2 more times to beat Pete's record of 7 Wimbledon wins. 2 more times after this year will be very difficult for him... I think he can do it looking at the form he is in currently.
Andy was brilliant but a tad dissapointing yesterday evening, I'm glad he is through though.
Overall, great Wimbledon... great weather...hopefully Roger's year... if not I want Novak to clinch it as he is the only one I can see beating Roger at this moment in time...
I wouldn't be annoyed if Roger won but obviously I'd prefer Andy too! But we shall see

Don't know yet matey! I'll find out the day before
Serena and Razzano are throught. Razzano through by default as Zvonareva pulls out with injury, a little annoying as Stoop could have won her match against her!
But glad that Razzano is through, she is playing very well recently, her next potential match is against Bartoli, a repeat of Eastbourne's semi-final which Razzano as Bartoli pulled out with injury whilst trailing 6-4 1-0
Roger is on fine form against Kohlschreiber, he can't do anything wrong at the moment.

But that was only the third round, wait till the 4th/quarters my friend! Hewitt is in Fed's half of the draw

Thats happens to Murray as well at times , though.
Murray has a bigger reach
Troicki may get into it better, soon.
Thunder going off might help.
Rolling on the Floor
does not help.
Easy going for Murray
I want them to close the damn roof!

He's trying to out do Murray, he's very athletic but Murray has all the skills! no one can run balls down as well as Murray and no one can return as well as Murray so I don't know why he's trying.
However he may be better at drop shotting than Murray

Yes
Bang On Right
Marcjswp.
Murray holds a 4-3 head to head over Stanislas Wawrinka. Murray has won 4 of they're last 5 meetings and the last meeting was in 2008, where Murray won 6-1 6-3 6-3 at US Open in the 4th Round.
They've never played on grass before so it should be a very good match up! Wawrinka's best performance at Wimbledon was last year (d. Del Potro in 2nd round but l. Safin in 4 s. in 4th round) Obviously Murray's best perfomance was last year when he lost in the Quarters to Nadal.
Can't wait!

i will do :D sounds daft, but do you have to pay to sit on there? and do you know roughly how much it is?[we're on a budget y'see]
I'd love to go to Wimbledon some time. I know it was a few days ago now, but I feel bad for Laura Robson, she started out really well against Daniela Hantuchova!! She's going to be big in years to come; also look out for Joanna Henderson in the future :D.
Robson will be a very big star in the future no doubt
Tomorrow's schedule is out and it looks amazing! Wish I had tickets to go tomorrow
A. Ivanovic vs. V. Williams looks great!
R. Federer vs. R. Soderling!

How do you expect any 15 year old to carry on playing a sport when injured? and I'm pretty sure with such big prospects in tournaments, e.g. ranking points and prize money, Murray wouldn't make up injuries, he plays tennis because he likes it, so I'm sure he wouldn't risk the chance of doing well in tournaments and decide to retire with a made up injury. Also if either williams' sister had a back injury [which would cause obvious problems for serving] they would have to pull out, at least Robson carried on like a trooper and showed grit and determination.
If you don't know enough about tennis then don't post on this thread because your clearly lacking in some knowledge
That was one of the most ignorant posts I've ever seen on TiBB. :bored:

I was watching tennis and going to Wimbledon before you were even born, so to say I lack knowledge gives me a good chuckle.
Do you not remember Serena when she severely hurt herself against Hantuchova a couple of years back? She came back and won the game, despite not even being able to move. That's a true champion, someone who gets on with it.
Murray in his early years was renowned for his injuries when he was losing. He's not so bad at it now, but he used to use injuries, as have many players down the years, as excuses. Many of his opponents have spoken up against him in the past.
It doesn't detract from the fact that Lemoine won. I'm sorry you lack the grace and maturity to accept that.
