Help with picking a theme.

Im starting my course in art and im looking for some help to look for a good theme.
Im using oil pastels and focusing on portraiture, but i need a theme to run through all of my work. Right now im thinking about 'Success & Failure' or 'Facing your fears' as themes, but if anyone has a suggestion it would be appreciated :)
