Love Island turns tables on Big Brother

ITV1's multimillion-pound reality show Celebrity Love Island managed to turn the tables on its arch rival Big Brother last night, when it attracted more than 4 million viewers.
The Fiji-based series peaked with 4.7 million viewers at 9.30pm last night, nearly 1 million ahead of its Hertfordshire-shot rival.

Big Brother took the spoils when the two shows went head to head on Friday. However, ITV's decision to schedule Celebrity Love Island straight after Coronation Street seems to have paid off.

Although ITV's show lost over half the 9.5 million viewers it inherited from Coronation Street, it still managed to attract an average audience of 4.3 million.

After slumping to averages of 2.3 million on Saturday and 2.8 million on Sunday, Celebrity Love Island pulled in its highest audience for more than a week - and the second highest since the show launched.

Big Brother managed an average audience of just 3.4 million at 10.30pm, peaking with 3.8 million 15 minutes later.

This is stupid, i mean fair enough from what ive seen love island has been hotting up over the past few days but in my opinion its still nothing compared to BB, anyone else agree/disagree?

I watched a bit of Love Island at the start. Wasn't intending to, but one of my flatmates is a big reality tv lover, and so I gave in and watched it with her.

Absolute load of rubbish. I just don't get the premise of the show. A bunch of "celebs" on an island, supposedly there to get off with each other and have sex which will never be shown on ITV. Did none of them imagine that this might be a bit tacky and desperate? Sure for some (titmuss and loos), tacky and desperate is right up their street, but I used to like Jayne Middlemiss. And I remember cheering Lee Sharpe on for man utd (great goal against Barca, back heel, absolute beauty) but now I'm embarressed to confess my previous fandom.

And my fellow countryman Mr Kielty and that horrible Brook woman (No.1 sexiest woman in the world, as voted by FHM readers, my a**e) don't help.

But all of the above means an avid viewing public, and the figures show that. My fear is that BB, traditionally IMO, the purest of all reality TV shows, is going down a similar road with the current crop...

Hold on big brother is the original its british and always will be its had one really bobbins year BB4 and since then and before then its amazing and all things a side its the best summer T.V has to offer so why moan and im sure you would rather have dermot on ya T.V than Richard and Judy From Ryan xmwahx
