im getting a baby kitten in a few weeks time:laugh: and i was wondering if any body has tips on what they need and how to care for them the best, and what to buy them do they sleep in beds? because i heard they will chose where they want to sleep and that they perfer cardboard boxes with holes of diffrent sizes to explore.

dont give her/him real milk they dont digest it very well, buy special cat milk. when i got my kittens six months ago i bought a bed but they never used it. you can grt cat beds with that are covered over so they can hide in it and also i would recommend a scratching post cos little kitties tend to scratch anything. so good luck with your new kitty i am sure he/she will bring you loads of fun.

yeah a scratching post is a good idea my cat loves his one and they tend to sleep anywere they want if theres a little gap or something. or if uve got a cardboard box lay that down on the floor and put a towel in it or something and he/she will post proberly like that:cat:

My cats loved sleeping on a baby fleece but as others have stated they tend to choose in the end where they will sleep. In our case its on the top of our couch but I just put the fleece there to make it nice and comfy.:flower:
ps: dont forget the litter tray

try not to go to mad at them when they poo on the sofa!
Also got my cat a bed, yet it prefers mine! never used the bed i got for them.
Yes most cats like cardboard boxes, with a small door for it to get in and maybe something comfy in there as most cats sometimes like stuff like that because they feel safe there and also they sometimes like to get away from us humans when we have been pestering them all day!

I litter trained mine in two days... when u see it putting its bum down put it in the tray and rub the front of its head and be nice - they so get to know its a nice thing to do. Put the tray somewhere private (not near food) and then they know where to go.
i never had a pet before so got a book from the library and got all the information from that - it was a great help.

If they start scratching at the floor or looking like they are going to do a poo/wee then pick them up and put them in the tray, i find my cats don't like to be watched so don't stand to close - watch from a distance, then when they have finished praise them and stroke them. Also just put them in there every now and again and see what they do.

i am worried my new kitten and cat are ignoring each other :conf::cat:
that's normal apparently.
Do they fight?
Apparently, if they don't fight, you should keep them together in a room while you're there, put their food together etc. try to make them friendly, and the cat might adopt the kitten.
