I'd love to go there. And generally I'm a fan :)
And I disagree with arista - but I fear I'm in the minority who agreed with the invasion of Iraq.
And I don't understand the hatred towards companies like Starbucks - I can understand from the point of view of an independent coffee-store owner, but as an independent customer although the choice of outlet is depleted, the quality of the dominant outlet is (in my experience) great, so there's no problem.

Dont mind the country in particular, but their government is terrible, and they are way too paranoid about another 911.
Also, I don't like the way that LA force people to look perfect.

Theres a lot of fat people, the level of consumption on the whole is a bit gross!

I'd like to live there, and go on holiday there.
It seems like a great place, like having low insurance costs etc.
But there are many things that put me off.

I'd love to go there, I really want to go to New York.
But I realised I'd hate to eat there, it would make me ill. My mum made meatloaf once, never having that again!

American food is the best.
I like the place, I've been to San Francisco, San Diego, Las Vegas, LA & Orlando and all of those places were nice. I really want to go to New York next year. I think the people are pretty arrogant and they stereotype loads, then again when you go, most people are really friendly. And they say "your welcome" ****k loads.

I went to New York and hated it. Starbucks, HMV, Burger King, then a junction then Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Mc Donalds - junction - Starbucks, HMV, Burger King............I stayed in the hotel for the last 3 days of the trip.

not my favourite country in the world.... thats an understatement actually :s
the accents annoy me... the ugliest accents are american imo. (probably get slated for that but hey im entitled to my opinion ;))
been to NY and NJ, didnt enjoy either. the majority of the people there were rude and arrogant. not tarring all american people with the same brush but wasnt a nice trip to say the least.
oh and it annoys me when they take shows like big brother and im a celebrity. they cant leave anything alone >.<
edit: forgot to mention internet wars xD (sad i know...) but when you end up getting into an online argument and that person turns out to be american thats it. the stereotyping starts. "oh you live in england... go drink some tea and see a dentist! hahah" oh shut up you turd >.< 9 times out of 10 theyll start reeling off the sh!t about the war too... bla bla heard it all before.
You know, I actually love living here and it's the best place in the world, I wouldn't ever want to leave and go anywhere else. It's like a dream at times and it's just utterly amazing.

I'v been to the States a few times and I loved it. The majority love the English, my accent is Kentish/Devonshire/London and again most loved that.
It probably helps that I'm cute/handsome. :wavey::whistle:

I think it's difficult to generalize feelings towards the whole country as it's so huge.
Like I'd love to go to New York or LA,but anywhere near the bible belt,no way.....
Also I'm really against the death penalty.

Well as an American [just outside LA] who now loives in Britain there some things you need to know:
- Hollywood, is a complete **** hole
- we don't all eat meatloaf and tater tots and we're not all fat
- we're not all ignorant of other cultures
- we do not all love profession sport
- we can be what seems overtly polite to Europeans

Totally disagree :P
Obviously about the war in Iraq but specifically about yur starbucks point.
The hate for those kind of huge branded shops that take over a city is due to what they do to the local culture... ie kill it. Starbucks makes a great coffee and do it at a good price but in opening all those stores they force out ALL other coffee sellers... good and bad. From the amazing coffee places all the way down to the nasty and cheap coffee shops.. What you lose in all that diversity is English culture.... replaced with bland same-y-ness. ps I'm not just talking of coffee shops but US culture more generally too.... films, TV etc. It's why countries like France pump so much governemt cash into their film industry. Not because they like film but because they know that "culture" lives in the way we do things and having all their film and TV imported from the US will eat away at their identity. They are fighting the bland samey-ness of the US. You should too.

This right here. BBUSA came before BBUK edit. And for some people complaining that Americans stereotype the most, I've seen plenty of stereotypes here of most Americans being arrogant, fat, and ignorant. Give me a break. Regardless of culture, ethnicity, or background; people act how they act and it's not based on where they are brought up, it's based on how they want to portray themselves.
The myth that all Americans are fat and stupid is about as true as the fact that all Britons drink loads of tea, have awful teeth, make awful food, and know the Queen.

Oh yeah, another myth debunked - Hollywood isn't glamorous. It's filled with wannabe actors and actresses who are looking to be discovered for their 15 minutes whilst working at Starbucks.

I have lived in the UK for 13 years and America for 1 and I think America is much better than the UK for many reasons.
- Education in America is much better than the UK, You have to work for good grades to pass to the next one but in the UK In years 7 and 8 (and all of primary) there is nothing major that you have to work for besides some tests at the end of the year that don't matter how bad/good you did and I think Americans work for their things unlike some people in the UK that just take money off the government - If they were in America they would probably be on the street or a shelter.
- American People are a lot more nicer than people in the UK like they are always willing to help you, people are smiling more and like when you go to Walmart and they say "Have a good day" a lot of people think they don't mean it or just say it because they have too. But I think they are genuine. I am surprised that people say that Americans are arrogant, Obviously you get arrogant people anywhere but I don't think Americans are arrogant and I think people get that type of opinion from American celebrities like Paris Hilton and Heidi Pratt etc.
I hate American food though, You can't even find a nice piece of chocolate anywhere and there can be some bad weather (Luckily I am in a good part that doesn't get affected much) but overall I think its amazing!

American education is better than British education?
Hold up for a sec, I have to laugh my arse off at that. :laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3:
Ok... I'm back.
Thats the biggest load of crap I've heard on here.
The USA is known for having a shaky education system.
The grade schools in the US have one of the highest drop out rates in the world, several students fail their course work even though it is MUCH EASIER THAN BRITISH WORK.
Do your research.
Well to be honest I prefer the British education to the American system.
And you're totally right on that one BBUK4LYFE.

I use to love them but then I realised they were attention seeking bastards who think the entire world revolves around them when infact everyone hates them.
Americans are the type of people who post threads like this asking people what they think of their **** country, they just think everyones gona say how amazing america is..
Do you see a single Scottish/Welsh/Irish/English person on here asking "What do you think of the UK?"
No and theres alot of us on here..
I think America is just complete bullshit, I often have arguments with them on Youtube too (always win) The only good thing thats ever came from America is in me banner.....
Yes South Park =D

As a dual citizen, I can't stand the US but have a lot of admiration for the UK. The problem with America is its isolation. Since Canada's really the only major country within close range, it has a self-centred attitude that really bugs me. Of course there are some great people in the US, but very few people there actually realise or give a rat's arse about the damage that the US is doing to the world. That and Americans bastardised English and have the nerve to say that "honour" is a variant of "honor."
