View Full Version : Oh no. Big Brother got LOWEST RATINGS ever last night? :(

Oh no, this is such bad news.

Big Brother got its lowest ratings ever last night:

Big Brother fell to its lowest audience ever last night, as the show struggled up against tough competition from the other channels.

Last night’s episode pulled in 1.0m (5%) on Channel 4, with a further 419,000 watching on C4+1.

It was the programme’s lowest ever audience, with the previous low being 1.5m a couple of weeks ago.

What happens now? Will Big Brother get axed?

God that's terrible.
We can't blame it on the fact it was Saturday because BGT had like 13 million viewers.

So bored with doomsayers.

What do you even care about ratings this season?

We know it won't be cut, contracted agreements won't allow it, and so it's just pointless moaning. It means nothing. It's not like C4 could cut it's resource down any further.

If you are enjoying the series carry on doing so, if you arnt turn off. It's that simple. The viewing figures are irrelevent.

These figures will be even lower as the weeks go on. To be honest it's like watching re-runs of old BB series. It's lost it's spark. BB11 would have to be something completely spectacular, new and different for it to work.

God, It won't be axed mid series people! Will it ever sink in!? Channel 4 COULD buy their way out of the contract after BB10 finishes though. I personally haven't watched it all week, it's been stagnant for weeks. I'll give it another try this week though because of new HM's and such.

There are things they could do to help. First off is they have to lay off total control over the HM's. Arguments and fights make good television. As it stands this year any argument that has been had has been stopped because of fear of being punished. Sree and Rodrigo both are/were little tattletales who run to the diary room when they get into a spat in the house. Its like you have to revert back to a child's mentality level to win this game or to even avoid being put on the block as punishment. Let the HM's sort out their problems and make Big Brother more of a guide than an authority figure.
The second things is give them more alcohol. I dont understand why they only give them about a pint apiece. The 2 current groups in the house would be at each others throats by now if they had a way to loosen up making good television.
The rules and regulations that are in place right make the
HM's have to act nice and cordial all the time which is boring. How long do you think Lisa would last as such a strong player if Marcus or Siavash could really lay into her and tell her what they think without the fear of having to be on the block next week because Rodrigo is going to tell on them for being disrespectful?

What has +1 got to do with it?

It's just about the main BB program on C4.

We could dig out weird stats about Live Feed, +1 etc but it would be pointless.

But still, comparing 'live' to 'live' (well, alloted time):

2.3 million (Sree eviction) vs 1 million (Sat show).

I'm sure Sree's eviction night had more viewers who watched the repeat, the day after, or whatever. But that's not relevant.

EDIT: The viewing figure stats are all just C4, not +1. Sree's eviction of 2.3 million was just when live. It's more if we include +1, etc.

EDIT: Fri's eviction got 2.1 million, and that was 5-way too; which should mean more viewers (more fans from 5 HMs instead of 2). Yet it STILL got lower than Sree's night.

No, because all the viewing figures that C4 released are about the main show, or live show; not repeats, Live Feed, +1, etc.

If people were to tot up the repeat viewings, +1, etc the figures are higher.

But nobody gives a monkeys about that.

+1 is ALWAYS INCLUDED.

Fine if we are not talking about +1, Saturdays show before Sree left got 1.2m on C4 only (a fall of 200,000), last Saturday, it got 1.4m on C4 only. So wa shigher than when Sree was there.

Sorry bit stop making excuses that the ratings have gone down because Sree has gone, the whole of the last week has been up on when Sree was there... so that obviously means people are liking him not there.... 85% votes him out, you cant blame this on us.

The amount of people up for eviction has NOTHING to do with ratings, look back on all the past 9 series.

No, only by you. C4's article all state that the viewing figures do not include the +1 viewings. It's just the main program.

Sree's night has more than 2.3 million if one dug up +1 figures.

The show the day after Sree left got 1.4 mil.

The stats speak for themselves.

Sree's eviction night: 2.3 million
Main sat show after Sree's eviction night: 1.4 million

Before the main attraction of Sree's night: 1.2 million, Main Sat show.

NOW: All time record low, 1 million So yes, it is on the wane now.

EDIT: The 5-way eviction, which should have MORE viewers as it appeals to more fans, STILL got less than Sree's eviction night.

In the overnight figures, +1 is always included in the finale rating, the producers always want to see +1 as well because loads mor epeople watch on there, its just not me, in IBB, +1 is included in the officials and have been since BB8.

You cant compare an eviction show to a Saturday show, its completely different. Kris's eviction may match Sree's eviction as well.
In previous series, look on IBB for proof, the less people up the more people watch as its more intense and closer.

Yes Sree's eviction may have been the highest viewed eviction interview because people didnt like him, he got the 2nd highest % behind Sophia, everyone wanted him to go, you cant say that 85% of the people that votes him out are feeling guilty for it....

And remember COMPETITION!!!! It was up aggainst STRONG COMPETITION!!

The lower ratings have nothing to do with Sree, your just saying that because your a fan, if it was to do with a HM it would be Cairon, as the week he went, there was quite a large drop of ratings.

Maz, I wouldnt even bother.

Ahmed just wants to push his own agenda and troll people into an argument. You can't win or debate him.

What did this Fridays show get? Around 2.2m (without +1) per show? Actually probably more then tuned to see Sree going then? You see why it's stupid to even try and discuss it with him? He dosent even use comparitive facts. He dosent even use facts tbh, he just makes it up as he goes along to get a reaction.

Now, I don't give a flying crap about ratings tbh, I only care if I am personally enjoying BB10 or not, but I DO find it funny that all the whingers and doomsayers are quiet when the show is doing ok all week, and only have something to say when it gets a tough night. It's like they just sit and watch, waiting for it to fail so they can gloat.

Pathetic way to live really.

12-07-2009, 03:23 PM
This week has been one of the most watched weeks of BB10 since the series started, since Saturday most of the highlight shows passed 2million viewers.

Last night's highlight show gained 2.1million viewers with the eviction show average at around 2.2million. Up on the past few weeks.

So with BB's big "suprise week" instore next week will the ratings pass the magic 3m?

Stick with us.

I think Big Brother will get better the fewer viewers it has. Practically nobody watching means that potential housemates won't be interested in fame (that's provided the media finally, finally leaves Big Brother alone).

If Big Brother was a "cult" show it would allow producers to take chances again. Also if fewer people watched it, there would e fewer complaints to ofcom.

Next.... Does anyone feel this is like the record industry blaming file sharing for nobody buying CDs anymore? There are thousands of people watching BB by downloading the shows online. I don't know if it's enough to put a dent in the viewing figures, but it could...
