I ran my weekly Tuesday night poker game, and I was gonna give away my Big Brother eviction night tickets as one of the prizes. I could not give them away, one of my players said "if i get those ticket I will burn them" All my fellow poker players took the living pissss out of me for watching BB.
The only people I know who like Big Brother are people on this forum and I hardly know you guys. Am I the only person who gets ridculed for "watching this krap"?

haha ... glad I'm not alone. I still try to maintain the 'it's a fascinating insight into social dynamics' line, but it's wearing a bit thin these days.

If i told my friends I was watching it they would laugh at me.
I'm an astrologer so I'm simply interested in the personality dynamics and it's really useful to have this opportunity observe behaviour in this way, my excuse.

Well if I didn't watch Big Brother and one of my friends did I'm pretty I would never let him or her hear the end of it.
Its not really that different from watching a soap.

My friends generally don't care. Some watch it, some don't. It is after all, just a tv programme.

My mates know I watch it. But they watch shows I find crap so, big deal. It's not as bad as watching a soap multiple times a week, every week, for years and years.

Same.
I just defend Big Brother by saying to people it's entertainment. End of ****ing story. Theirs nothing wrong with entertainment. Do these same people who criticise ALWAYS watch shows that are intellectualy fulfilling? No. Put twelve ***** in a house and leave them their. On paper, it's a far better television concept than opening random boxes and having Noel Edmonds pick up a ringer.

OP - you should ask them how much does they make at poker. I bet I make more every series gambling on evictions than they've netted in a poker lifetime.
Nobody ever disses me for doing it for the money.

Not that simple mate, most poker players at my game are just regular people who like to play a game which involves skill than figuring odds when playing agains the house. The major difference between poker and every other form of gambling is you are not playing against the house. Hence poker is not gambling, it a game of skill.
The house can always trick you and throw a red hering here or there. IMO a major red herring was Blind housemate Michael winning BB9, nobody would have predicted Rachel winning last year, especially when it was the last 2, and the bookies made an absolute killing.

This is why I don't tell my friend that I watch it. I have one friend who would take the piss so much if he found out. He has a very derogatory opinion of BB and BB fans.

This may sound contradictive of me, but I have a low opinion of some BB fans, when I went to Cairons eviction I was surround by Teeny Boppers and Chavs. I am neither a Teeny Bopper or a Chav.

Good points - tho I never regard evictions as a gamble hence 39 won in a row and now banned by William Hill and Stan James. I'm only good at poker when it's on TV and have the commentary!!!!! I pants it when do it for real!!!!

Anyway this is straying from the subject matter, I am BB fan and proud of it. Whenever there is a BB series I shall watch it, if my mates and aquaintances take the pissss out of me, they can all kiss my assss.

my boyfriend gets the right arse about me watching bb,he makes snide comments throughout the entire series,or whatever you call it.strangely,he doesnt mind the celeb bb???.i tend not to tell people i watch it,as people can be so opinionated about it,and it gets right on my tits, the only other people i know who watch it,are my mum,and sister.i dunno why i watch it myself a lot of the time,as it irritates the krap outa me,but its strangely addictive.
My boyfriend is the only one that knows. When I mentioned I liked BB, I was surprised that he wasn't really bothered by it. He's not a fan but we do watch it together.

I can see that, but those are more certain types of individuals you don't like, I don't think there are many people who don't like teeny boppers or chavs in general, not just the BB viewing ones! Whereas my friend just groups all BB fans in the same boat, and marks them as being low-brow and unintelligent and deserving of being ripped on for it.
I don't understand why there's so much intellectual snobbery about BB.
I honestly think the world would be a better place if people took the time to understand human interaction. A fascinating aspect about BB, for me, is that they all think each other has a game plan, when really nobody has.
People are so suspicious of each other, in the BB house and in the world generally.
I think dismissing Big Brother as trash TV means that you're closed off to the intricacies of human behaviour. Taking a bit of time to understand people better can only be a good thing.
BB fan and proud!

I got stuck with it about BB6 as the girl I was living with at the time wasa total devotee. I did the matcho 'manly thing' and started gambling on the evictions as I soon knew a lot about it!!!!. The girl and I have gone our separate ways but I'm still here with it

I am the same as you... none of my mates watch it and I only have you guys on here to talk to about it! But thats a good thing as your all knowledgeable about it :thumbs2:
I dont tell anyone because if they have a particular favourite that I hate, it just shows what kind of person they are... I'd rather be ignorant about this.
My husband watches from time to time. Every year I swear I wouldnt watch and every year I end up watching. My poor husband is the only one I can 'unload' when I see an injustice. So you might guess my husband loves me being on this forum because he gets off the hook! lol
I find BB a guilty indulgence. Personally, for me who religiously reads psychologies magazine every month, I just find it addictive.
Thanks Clockers for sharing I thought I was the only one! If you dont have anyone to give out those tickets... you can try me???? :P

^Yeah same here, their all obsessed with game plans but how exactly, as human being, do you enact a game plan over a lengthy period of time?
* * * *
None of my friends are really bothered & quite a few of them watch themselves - we're all students!
People tend to be quite cynical about it, & about the producers for putting in people like Sree for one! But they tend to forget that at the end of it we're still dealing with individual human beings. Individuals who have the potential to destroy every preconception that the public has about them - Humans are unpredictable!
...I mean who'd of thought that I would of liked Noireen & Marcus now!!!
