View Full Version : What age Group Watches BB?

I'm actually a bit shocked! It has been said on this forum a few times that kids watch Big Brother and I even suspect some of the posters on here are no more than kids!

Should children be watching BB? I certainly would never let my children watch it!

My older boys, age 11 and 14 watch it, well talk through it! Except when Angel stripped then the silence was golden!

I use it now to threaten them into silence when I m watching. 'Be quiet or I'll put Angel swimming naked on!'

I am a terrible mother!

I think this forum is generally the younger BB viewing crowd, but most BB viewers are probably older women.

Fair enough, I think teenagers are pretty clued up nowadays and probably see/hear much more than the parents think nyway, but I'm talking about primary school kids watching..

One poster on here admitted that although she is 6-10 years younger than most of this years housemates, she still remembers watching BB2! What age must she have been??

A large segment of the voting/viewing audience are teen girls and middle aged women. This helps to explain the voting patterns as they are.

Instead of keping on having a go at Angel, why not have a go about Lord Half-wit , at least Angel has got some real talent, unlike the vast majority of h/mates!!

I know people aged 10 that watch it, and I know of people aged 60+ that watch it. But I'd say it's targeted at the 18-24 year olds.

Woah!! This is an adult show, why are kids watching!?. This programme is not exactly a good role model for kids. Still it makes sense when you look at some of the comments on the CH4 BB webpage and on the forums including this one and DS.

No child under 15 should be watching BB past the watershed ever, and even then at 15-17 it's not exactly quality time with the kids. Stick to the almost sanitised version the next day if you have to although even that got done for racism.

As it's aBB 10th year celebration On BBLB they have had a bunch of 10 year olds several times thus far talking about BB.......Thus outright encouraging youngsters to watch an adult format.......

CH4 loves all the pocket money they spend on the voting lines........

Targetting children to watch and vote on BB has been it's down fall in recent years.......A mature mind is required to see the depth of personalities........Kiddies just think it's like a human fair ground shooting gallary........Never mind the story lines evict who ever takes their imature whim......

I just had a disagreement with my 5 year old daughter about Hannah Montata; I don't want her watching it at all so as you can imagine BB is strictly out of the question.

I really do think even 9 or 10 years old is too young for BB partly becaise of the swearing, partly because of the adult/sexual themes but also because IMO kids shouldn't be up at that time. That is strictly adult peace time for wine and lots and lots of munchies!!

i don't see much of a problem with 12+ watching it. but when they are talking about wanking and all that, i do think we should try and preseve a bit of our younger children's innocence!! my 7yo knows about the human body and has asked about sex and i've answered truthfully, kinda draw the line at explaining what a wank is though!!

plus the HL are on at 9-10pm at night!! why are younger kids even up at that time??

Yes, that's my point exactly... there are lots of themes in BB that I don't want to have to explain and don't even get me started on the language!

There is a day time edited version for parents who want to protect their children from the language extremities........

Not having a go either! :xyxwave: I just hate it when people say not to let kids watch this and that and then they are going to school and hearing a load of bull and believeing it!

I think watching something like Hannah Montanna is worse than BB, because the programme is about a spoilt madam who becomes a pop star! Unrealisic expectations! And then the merchandising!

Anyway my boys know that some of the people on BB are full of BS!

I actually started watching bb when I was 14, I've never really thought about the ages that watch it although I have noticed that there are a few youngsters on this forum.

Do you know, im not sure. If young teenagers watch it, I think it's fine as long as they take things with a pinch of salt and laugh at what's happening instead of taking things too seriously.

I remember back at school quite a few of my friends watched it. It was just another programme to talk about. Anyway bb is pretty tame compared to somethings on TV now e.g Skins

My wee one has ALWAYS been into her music; I had an argument in Asda with her recently about the music being played; she said it was Bob Dylan, but it was definitely The Beatles! :laugh2:

kids growing old before their time. you only need to look at the vast majority of kids clothes that are just mini versions of the stuff women in their 20s wear going for nights out!!
