The crazy fans are probably more annoying than the man himself.

I like your style, I think that you have a very good point there and it is no doubt true!
I didn't like Kris, but he was right that Freddie is very annoying, it's this continuous optimism and inane smiling all the time!

Freddie doesn't really have the common touch.
(Or in Lisa's case-the common as muck touch)

Freddie is only really an eccentric in two respects:
1. He can use and understand a few words with more than two syllables;
2.He can speak in such a way that I can understand what he is saying.
In most parts of our society neither would make him eccentric but amongst most of the other HMs he is off the scale of eccentricity.
PS I am neither a girl or young.

As a bitter old man, I still enjoy Freddie and don't find him annoying, although I can easily see why people do find him annoying. He might lack social skills to a level (but certainly not an extreme one) and I think this has made his annoying factor greater, hopefully now with new housemates with a bit of intelligence might cause him to try less. As I feel that his 'trying' is part of the problem.

I don't think Freddie is eccentric, or a rich mans strange. Most of it seems to based on the fact that he speaks poshly, which does stick out even more in the house, but I shouldn't be considered a problem, the over-reacting to it by housemates has been huge.

We all must have lived with people that have annoying 'quirks' to them, that are totally normal, but when you are forced to live with them they can blow up. Especially if you try to hard, they things can come out worse (ha, personal experience there). I know that if I had to live with me the odds are that I would find myself very annoying to live with.

Still even as a bittered old man I am someone that would be considered to be in the fringe of normality, I have several interests and associations that aren't mainstream, I have a huge love for the literature of the 'counter culture' so I am more akin to Freddie than say Kris or Charlie.

We are all annoying

:nono:

Neither of the 'respects' you use to partially define eccentricity have anything whatsoever to do with eccentricity in any part of any society.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eccentrics
In popular usage, eccentricity refers to unusual or odd behavior on the part of an individual. This behavior would typically be perceived as unusual or unnecessary, without being demonstrably maladaptive. Eccentricity is contrasted with "normal" behavior, the nearly universal means by which individuals in society solve given problems and pursue certain priorities in everyday life. People who consistently display benignly eccentric behavior are labelled as "eccentrics."

What could be conceived as eccentric behaviour from Freddie is the humming when eating, the singing to people to make a point and those other little oddities and mannerism that the audience seem to either love or hate.

His attention is too much on Bee, understandably however;

I hope he wll look around more, and if he sees his old friend like Marcus being alone, he could keep Marcus's company now and again?
