I don't think he was a dick to them. I think they're just a bit scared to talk to him because they can see he's in a bad mood. I saw a couple of them including tom trying to be friendly to him earlier on.

well obviously they think the new HMs are playing a game. they've had the chance to watch the show and even though they don't personally know the old HMs they can gather enough info from watching the HLs and live feeds. gives them sort of an edge if they know how to play it. Tom is an idiot, he's already given it away in the first few days. If he played it slick he could've lasted here for quite a bit I think.
