He is not quite as hard as he likes to make out, he does care about some and is really quite perceptive sometimes. In that he correctly said that Sophie was too nice to tell Kenneth where to get off, he was sort of right, when you look at that scene with Ken and Tom on her bed and Kenneth touching her. Sophie is clearly uncomfortable and does not know how to handle this, what with Kenneth supposedly being Karly's bf, and I think BB was concerned enough to call her into the DR

That's one of the resons why Marcus is so weird and a mystery, why can he assess situations quite truthfully but when it comes to himself he acts like a complete freak, like he's so powerful that noone can see through it. Its almost like Marcus bought a book on 'how to not charm a girl' but refused to read the word 'not'
