View Full Version : Is Siavash racist?

Siavash said when he goes to a British/English run restaurant, he'll tip the standard amount.
If he goes to an Iranian-run restaurant, he'll tip extra.
Racist?

If someone English had said an equivalent thing they would be labelled racist.

You off your rocker. How can person supporting his country of origin makes them racists. Racist means a hatred or intolerance of another race or other races. He said he would first eat at an English restaurant then he also said he would tip them. Please point out the hatred or intolerance there

I would say loyal as well, looking after your own is just being Loyal to your fellow country men/women not racist!

Being non-racist means treating everyone the same.

Question: Not sure if you are male or female. However, if you have a boyfriend or girlfriend, how did you choose him/her over the other people you might have chosen?
Answer: You discrminated between them.
Question: When you go clothes shopping, how do you choose which specific item you will purchase in preference to all the other items for sale?
Answer: You discriminate between them.
So, I can't argue with your logic, discrimination is discrimination.
If you are getting a takeaway, do you prefer Fish and Chips, a Curry, or (to be of the time) a Kebab? My guess is you discriminate.
In no way does that make you racist and neither is Siavash. Not sure about you because I don't know you. I suspect you may be.

There's no story here.
His comments were just honest and, in my opinion, understandable.

Not racist...
Just slimey, weird, riddled with an inferiority complex and quite boring...
I HATE how he takes 15 minutes to finish a sentence and always comes out with **** like ''AH REALLI LYK U U KNOW!'', it's ****ing dull...it won him the cardboard box game because Craig couldn't bear to listen to his whining voice.

It's patriotism. I'd sometimes go to an Irish bar/restaurant when on a sun holiday, instead of an English run or local one, does that make me racist or xenophobic? No, I'm appreciating the culturally familiar.

That is not racist in the slightest.
Siavash is a member of the Iranian community. So he tips the restaurants in his community more than those outside his community. It makes sense! After all, if you were eating down the street where you know all of the waitresses, bar tenders, owners, customers, etc, you are probably going to tip more than if you went to somewhere there was no one you knew.

Exactly  I would never criticise anyone for being patriotic, no matter what nationality you are, in fact I'd go so far as to say it is an admirable quality

He could never be a racer, he's not fit enough to be, and as for taking a long time to get his sentences finished, surely you mean dim-wit, he is so boring and sings like a castrated hyena!

I'll only be voting for white British people on BB, and in the government elections as well, come to think of it.
It's not a hatred or intolerance of any other race, you understand. It's just done out of loyalty.

I never met a single person in my life who was not racist in some way or other and to pretend you are not is silly. Hopefully we dont act racist but to prefer your won kind/culture is human.
In this instance he is showing he likes his country more than this one, the one he lives in. Perhaps if more folks like him stayed in their own countries and tried to affect change they would not have to live elsewhere
He most likely enjoys Iranian food more ,therefore tips more.

I like Indian food best, but would never tip them as much as I would a British person.

Anglo-saxons huh, don't you just LOVE Germans. The world is a melting pot of migrations. Nothing new in that. Celebrate our wonderfully diverse community.

You automatically presume they earn less because they're Iranian?
