Depending on where you stay and what places you go to, you won't really have to speak Portuguese as they're used to tourists. Also, in case you want to spend a little more money, go to Fernando de Noronha, It's absolutely stunning!

Oh I really want to see more of Brazil than just Rio, so I will look into this. It looks amazing over there. Will I need to rebuff my Portuguese much do you reckon? Glad you are all good, hows the studies?

I'm great, thanks for asking and you? Well, carnival in Salvador lasts almost a week (people up North party hard, you can go to Rio first. It officially starts in Sao Paulo 13/Feb (crap) , two days of parade that lasts the whole night (literally until early hours in the morning) then Rio for two more nights 15/Feb.

Oh interesting, I always thought Rio was the best. I'm going to check out Salvador online, How have you been by the way? Been ages since we spoke.

Ben, I'm sure you'll enjoy seeing it but carnival across the country is one massive fun street party, not quite like you see in Rio with the gigantic costumes and floats and all that which is more a parade although you can also enjoy street carnival in Rio. The best carnival is in Salvador.

Chuckles is the carnival worth going to? I'm trying to work out my next travels.
