your mum knows the deal, but you really need to learn. Cooking is so fun. The "Shan" brand (the powder your mum bought) is great for curries, i've got a few things from there before

think my mum fries onions, adds bayleaves and other stuff, puts a spoon of each powder in the pot and then adds the meat

she adds any of these powders when she's making something like biryani



basically with biryani you cook the curry and put basmati rice in the curry pot and let it all mix and absorb and it is sf beautiful
