If she's your age, she may be more into the newer stuff... if she's near my age though, she knows Ayu

I changed doctors and the lab tech/nurse practitioner that is in the office speaks a few asian languages. Hubby had that conversation about me knowing Japanese to her when he went in for his physical, so when she met me a few days ago when I was getting lab work done, she started speaking Japanese out of hte blue and I was like oh I understand this... all the while she's drawing blood, and I hate needles, so I'm answering... but like omg, I'm understanding her fine, but needle needle needle... not a good first impression, but she wanted me to talk back to her in Japanese more last time... I think she misses Japan a lot from her conversation and I'm her outlet

My new sig ... per usual, It's Ayu

Some places in the northeast has a feel like this, places like Pennsylvania and some of the old old towns... like the town we lived in (and that my husband grew up in) is named Savage... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Savage,_Maryland It's so big you can sneeze through ...

But I would wait by the mill everyday and take a bus to work/college...

    I have a picture somewhere...

I grew up in Houston, so I imported him back after 8 years of freezing my ass off... I had enough of snow and ice

A lot of newer areas are so commercialized/modernized... though Houston is slowly going progressive route... lots of square buildings and eco friendly establishments... I love that I live near that and all our trails

I ended up taking both Studio and Graphic Design courses and so technically I have a dual degree with dual concentrations. Only because it made sense to me to me for the field I was going into to add those credits. I hit the upper limit of what I was allowed to take, but thankfully I graduated in time.

It sounds like whatever program you're in is keeping you very busy. Freshman year is kinda meh here too bc some things are logically chosen for you. It isn't until a the 2nd or third you can start to add classes that interest/add to what you get out of the experience.

I had a non-lcd touch bar on my HP that I had to disable because the heat from the CPU/battery (which was underneath or to the side) kept interfering with the strip and my volume would tick a lot up and down. What was silly was having to upgrade the BIOS to "fix" it... it was still sensitive, but for some reason if I hit the stop button after setting volume would stop it completely. Weird work-a-round.

Your college programs sound so different than anything we have here. Like I don't even know what a "module" is. Our history courses are separated into different segments, usually starting from one point up to a certain year/period and then the other class would restart from there. Depending on your degree, you can choose either or you will be required to take both. Our degrees are usually a set track and some classes are obviously required, but you can pick and choose from a list as long as it fulfills the credits.

Speaking of the new touch bar...

    The future...

They did eliminate touch in laptops (and desktop screens are hard to find now). I think it pretty much died with 8.

I think MS was just trying something new but assumed everyone would get a touch screen and there was really no real purpose other than to pretend to be mobile. I wouldn't mind it for things like zooming and tweaking minor things in Photoshop, but we can do that with drawing tablets now...

Trackpads support multi-touch but it's a bit of a hidden feature. Supposedly I can switch pages and go back with my fingers. It's difficult to get it to work in practice, at least on my laptop, it has a big pad but it only works about 50% of the time... I use a mouse with a touch strip anyway.

You should have no problems running Ubuntu but probably 256GB to run two OS'. I have the same size in both my machines (desktop/laptop) and I have a 1Tera installed alongside my SSD in my laptop. If you have an m.2 slot (it's like a place for a long chip on the board that lays flat) you should be able to install another storage drive.

If you just want to play/test Ubuntu, if you download it and burn it to DVD/write to USB, you can run the OS off CD/USB to just play with it/try it out rather than installing. It's a fully working OS without installing anything afaik. They advertise the functionality on their site. It's actually good to have a copy just in case Windows flakes out, you will have some way to test your hardware
