Well, like most people I suppose, youre in for a rude awakening!

King Gizzard 12-06-2010 08:28 PM

Don't get me wrong, we still look very strong though.

Locke. 12-06-2010 08:28 PM

We started the 1966 tournament with a draw, how did that end...

Don't think you watched the second half mate.

Was a good performance from USA first half, shame they needed Robert Green to score for them.

Just have to beat the other 2 by more goals than USA do and the group is sorted.

Were you watching the same game as me? They were pants. Getting through the group is immaterial - if you play like that against a big team you'll be destroyed.

Stacey. 12-06-2010 08:29 PM

i'm just pleased we didn't lose.

King Gizzard 12-06-2010 08:30 PM

We played well! it was just one of those games

Shaun 12-06-2010 08:30 PM

we were unlucky not to win, tbh

End of the first half:

England 45%
USA 55%

End of second half:

England 53%
USA 47%

Over the 2 halves.

Shots on target, cba looking that up but it was a few more than them.

And at the end of the day... At least we're there.

People need to rememeber some of these players have little to no experience of playing together, this is only the first game!!

Like I said, best performance I've seen from us so far from the friendlies etc, some quick, snappy passes, Heskey was probably MOTM for me actually, he held the ball up amazingly well, just need some things to come together better in the games going forward, it will come!!

This is the kind of arrogance, like youre just gonnna dismiss the other 2 teams in the group as given win (Which you though would be agasint the USA as well), the kind of arrogance that will get you eliminated. You have to earn it, and respect the other teams. its not given.

Don't start being dickish because threads like this will end up closed!!

Glen Johnson was MOTM for me, woulda been Heskey but he went offside too much.

You're telling me that based on that performance you have a chance of winning this World Cup? That was a truly awful display and you'll see the same thing written in all the papers tomorrow. We're talking about the States here for feck sake.

setanta 12-06-2010 08:35 PM

The USA's central defender with the beard was the man of the match.

Smithy 12-06-2010 08:35 PM

What was the end score?

The papers are negative 99% of the time. If you're listening to them then, well... I won't even say what I'm thinking. And no I don't think we'll win the world cup, I've said Holland will for ages.

1 - 1

The US was an own goal, terrible mistake by Green :/

He redeemed himself though in the 2nd half to be fair, I may have been more than a bit harsh in the heat of the moment lol

Onyewu! And he is coming back from injury! He played well, given that Heskey is such a handful for a sweeper\!
