I think if anyone put themselves in her shoes they'd have done the same thing. She was in the middle of release week for her first solo single and while it looked like it was going to be in the top 40 (I believe it charted in the top 40 that week) she wasn't exactly destined to be the next big thing, then she gets a call saying that there's potentially a spot available in the Sugababes but she doesn't get any further information, just that she needs to be ready to fly out at any moment to go join them... so she's waiting around for this call and then it comes in the middle of the night and flies out to LA where they were meant to be filming the video for About A Girl (the bits with all the stunt doubles weren't meant to be in the video, the Sugababes themselves were meant to be doing the stunts apparently) and discovers she's replacing Keisha.

She had no idea who she was replacing - but if you got a call asking you if you'd like to join arguably the most successful British girl band of the last 10 years or stick with your not quite doomed but not looking great solo career, I think most people would accept the Sugababes job. I feel a bit sorry for her really because being in the Sugababes has now killed off any chance she may have had at a solo career; it's alright for Heidi and Amelle, they had some success with the band and some good memories; Jade just did a lot of hard work to learn everything only for it all to end with nothing to show for it.

Mutya, Keisha and indeed Siobhan, aka Mutya Keisha Siobhan, will be performing at next week’s NME Awards, it is our pleasure to exclusively reveal.

The ladies will be performing with Metronomy on a version of the latter’s current single, ‘Love Letters’.

The awards take place at the Brixton Academy on February 26 and will also feature a performance by Blondie and Popjustice favourites Drenge.

This 2-year anticipation will hopefully pay off http://www.breatheheavy.com/exhale/p...hatsright2.gif

I figure their second single campaign will begin shortly after this NME awards appearance, would be a bit of a wasted opportunity to not build on any hype created by appearing with Metronomy.

Yeah, perhaps I did take it a little too far there. :/

Jordan. 03-05-2014 01:03 PM

Are they still alive

Z 03-05-2014 01:56 PM

Yeah they're just biding their time for some unspecified thing to happen before they progress, rumours and all the signs indicate that they're trying to get the Sugababes name back.

Smithy 03-05-2014 01:59 PM

the name is not the problem

Samm 03-05-2014 02:12 PM

imo they should just wait a couple more years then make a big comeback since lily allens comeback is slaying at the moment http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ps0e303d31.gif

I think it is. They're all talented singers, the people who like them like them for their voices - but the general public have never at any point in time been invested in any Sugababe past or present as personalities, unlike members of Girls Aloud or Spice Girls or The Saturdays - it has always been about the music regardless of who was in the band. The name Sugababes is an established brand known around the world; they're not just a pop group that were successful in the UK for a while - they had a decade long run, smashing around Europe. The name is important. I have no doubt that the music will be amazing, they were always involved in the writing and production processes and they still are now, they're musicians first and celebrities second.

Why would Lily Allen's career have anything to do with theirs?

Jordan. 03-05-2014 02:23 PM

I'd rather they stayed as MKS, 'Sugababes' is tainted now.

Jake. 03-05-2014 02:24 PM

Oo the threads been bumped, did Keisha sneeze or something

I think it's a shame that the Sugababes brand has just been left to fester. That band was Keisha's passion and I think it would be great if they got the name back and were allowed to continue where they left off.
