Proving that the hardcores are the ones watching then - that isn't bad at all. Surely it'll climb to at least 1.4 tonight? Even BB15 managed a 1.6 in the first week.

Usually casuals don't tune into the night after launch because they have already watched the launch. So thats the only positive i can pick from it.

Cant believe TellyMix are comparing it to BB15's second launch rating, you can't compare them. |
Urgh turns out the +1 figure wasn't as good as we thought.
Only 66k tuned in an hour later, bringing it to 1.19m for last night. |

Still - DS saying that BB was C5's most watched show of the entire day, so what that says I don't really know. |
I honestley dont think Viacom care to much for the ratings as long as CBB gets high ratings
|
I honestly think they do considering the show costs them 40m a year.

Time will tell. It should make a jump up to at least 1.4m tonight which is pretty much on par for where the HL's have been for the past few years on C5. |

66k on +1 is atrocious. I didn't watch last night because I have incompetent staff so im catching up now but theres no denying that this year is a flop thus far. |

Right now its flopping I hop it will pick up to 1.5 overnights but they have started it way to early with no promotion it was to be expected. |

At least it only dropped 600k from launch, BB15 went from 2.1 to 950k.

How the ratings develop over the next week will be the interesting part. Saying it will flop is just stupid at this point after one launch and one highlights. People need to stop being so dramatic. If ratings are terrible after 7 highlights then yes it's more than okay to say it's a flop, after one show though? Ridiculous.

Reading these comments, I can't defend last night's ratings because they are terrible. However, we're living in a world where people don't watch TV live anymore. They'll record, watch it on catch up, live internet streams etc. Viewing figures aren't as important as they once were.
Big Brother was C5's highest rating show last night still, regardless of the rating it got. Channel 5 have only got themselves to blame for the rating with the terrible lack of promotion this series has been given. The show on the other hand however has a solid fanbase that watch continuously. They may not watch live, and with the officials we'll see averages of 1.6 as they take into account all of the repeats and live recordings. It's a shame that they don't take into account the Demand 5 viewership because Big Brother is Demand 5's best performing catch up. The show itself brings in a lot of revenue for Channel 5 in product placements, adverts etc and therefore the show is profitable. We need to consider also the share was 7.1% - That's a great share really for Channel 5, when the show before it only managed 4% share. The series has aired two episodes - how on earth can that be considered a flop is beyond me. |
