I'm sick of it being Big Brother: *insert theme here*. It should just be Big Brother like how it was a few years ago and on the C4 days.

This is how I want C5 to execute themes. Just have the house/graphics/visuals all with a cohesive theme, but leave it at that. Nearly all C4 series followed that and it worked very well.

Extending it to the series just makes the show appear like some cheap college project. All this theme lingo ("as the battle of the nations continues") has to be the worst of it. It really makes the show appear like something aimed at kids, rather than the teen/adult market. The way they open shows too is just awful, take this years launch for example, what the hell were they thinking? It was just too cringey to watch, I wanted to switch off as a BB fan, I'd dread to think what that mess of an opener would have done to the casual viewer. The editing at the start of each show is ridiculous too, I don't mind a summary of events but OTT dramatic music and a *BOOM* *Camera zooms quickly to HM in diary room* each time, it's not dramatic, it doesn't make me want to watch it and all it leaves me thinking is ahh isn't Windows Movie Maker fab.

The majority of non-fans I've spoken to have switched off this series simply because it's "UK vs USA", because they don't think it's Big Brother, they think it's something else that is resulting in it being a different show/something you don't want to watch.

Secrets and Lies was good because it was new, different and the theme didn't intrude *too* much on the series (apart from Jack & Joe saying "it's Secret and Lies init" every bloody episode). Since then all the themes have been flops apart from the winter Fairytale theme. They just need to either scrap the themes, or do a CBB15/BB14/C4 style themed series, have the theme but don't involve it much or at all with the series, keep it more as a visual aspect of the show.

it's got to do better tonight, theres literally no competition.

Will. 31-08-2015 09:12 PM

I really hope it's done well, that episode was iconic

Jake. 31-08-2015 09:14 PM

if it doesn't pick up tonight then yeah I can't see it picking up at all

MB. 31-08-2015 09:17 PM

I'm guessing 1m

(yeah at this rate it might not even top BB16's ratings)

Rob! 31-08-2015 10:09 PM

I would hope +1 at least will raise things a bit. It was a pretty amazing episode.

Jason. 31-08-2015 10:18 PM

I'll say around 1.2m.

Blog Rider 31-08-2015 10:48 PM

I predict zero ratings for BOTS soon and it will have to move to Five Star.

Agreed B, This summer is frikken hot and people are obviously not watching TV as a whole, Even I find BB or CBB a commitment to watch everyday at 9pm especially weekends.

I say 1.3m overnight but gonna be higher on officials than yesterday or previous day.

The last time it was actually considered "hot" here in London was on like 2 July

It's been a **** summer, this year. So the weather isn't to blame for the low TV viewership. Not to mention it's September and raining.

Jack_ 01-09-2015 01:41 AM

Having caught up with the last few episodes tonight I am enjoying this series but I'm glad to hear it's performing appallingly.

Summer CBB should not be a thing and if this doesn't make C5 realise it I don't know what will. Give us back our damn three weeks for civilian that you so rudely stole off us with your ****ing dreadful CBB obsession and run a five week CBB in January that you can go all out on.

Not only that, but I still cannot get over the disgusting way in which they treated Tila and how it's the most pathetically unjust ejection in BBUK history. This show is a shoddily produced ****ing shambles and if the ratings reflect that then it's poetic justice as far as I'm concerned.

Rob! 01-09-2015 09:00 AM

Huge leap - 1.43m and that's excluded +1! :amazed: Strangly low share of 6.3% though.

I mean it's still pretty bad for CBB but hopefully it can build from that.

Jake. 01-09-2015 09:21 AM

Not bad I guess, hoping the +1 was big

Pete. 01-09-2015 09:30 AM

Still bad imo

Rob! 01-09-2015 09:59 AM

Maybe BB should have them making cakes. Grest British Bake Off got an insane 12m last night.

Bake Off airs on a Wednesday?

Rob! 01-09-2015 10:03 AM

Oh I just saw it on DS.

Still an insane number though.

RichardG 01-09-2015 10:45 AM

I hope it increases further, this series has been great so far.

daniel-lewis-1985 01-09-2015 11:03 AM

A good jump it should be getting between 1.8 and 2 million for a summer CBB though but much better than it only scraping a million and that disaster of a Saturday figure.

I think viewers will be back after last nights episode it was soooooo good :) Tv was down everywhere over the weekend especially with X Factor don't know what the hell happened as CBB started off pretty standard ratings wise....Bank holiday weekend? Last weekend before school starts? Who knows.

Im not one to make excuses for ratings but when it drops below 1 million then somethings up especially when the highlights have been so good. The removal of Tila and the crappy twists didn't hep BUT the twists DID prove the intended drama so the tasks were only a small part of the actual show.

+1 only added another 155k (1%)

*mazedsalv** 01-09-2015 11:10 AM

With +1, last night received 1.59m.

Much better, but still around 200k than last summer was getting in overnights in general, but at least it's not as embarrassing as before. Hope this week can hold onto those 1.6m like figures. I don't know if it will go any higher, but we'll see. We need to do some promoting amongst ourselves I guess :p
