Good old Hayley and Blair, one of the blind dating couples in season 26 of The Amazing Race. I found it super hilarious when they did that thing that one time. It was such a Hayley and Blair thing of them to do. Sometimes it was Hayley, sometimes it was Blair. That was the fun thing about Hayley and Blair. You never knew which one of them it would be. What would be, I hear you ask? That thing they always did, I reply. Ultimately, they finished third, but who cares, they’re Hayley and Blair!

I believe she’s the highest-placing Australian in this ranking and if not, why not? She contributed to one of the greatest single hours of television ever seen this side of Netflix. She constructed a Sydney Opera House out of cake, albeit one presumably hit by a tornado. A nuclear tornado. During the Blitz. She’s Dame Bloody Edna. Why wouldn’t she be in this ranking, possums?

The first contestant to break the 40 barrier, James made something happen that rarely happens nowadays, like a blue moon or a solar eclipse or Big Brother being good. He made the majority of thisisbigbrother like someone with a penis. And not for his penis either – don’t get me wrong, I’m sure some people dig the whole redneck Asian vibe – but for his game play. In a season, in fact an age, when every decision has to involve a blindside or a backdoor or a game of fucking Battle of the Block, it was unbelievably refreshing to see someone go for two targets (in this case, power couple Shelli and Clay), knowing full well what the consequences would be in future, and sticking with them. Whilst it didn’t immediately result in the intended outcome, James’ second HoH turn had to be one of the greatest weeks in modern BBUS memory. I guess his friendship (and nothing more, yes?) with Meg was cute too, and his whole Captain Camo thing is almost certain to have secured him a place in the next BB All Stars season. Good on you, James.

Another one of that Worlds Apart lot for you now, and one with a nice surname to boot. Worlds Apart featured the rather ill-conceived idea of tribes based on social status, with Lindsey finding herself in the Blue Collar tribe. She ended up disagreeing with most of the men in her tribe, which ultimately led to her downfall as she became the fourth contestant voted out following a re-vote. Oop.

Sam (<3) (I’m not biased at all, promise) undeniably shined… or, if you look at it the other way, had the most airtime, on the children’s book task. This task was made for him. There were only so many confessionals of Sam talking about how language was the key to existence and how his team mates were illiterate fuckwits that we could take before a task came along with his name written all over it. I mean, he hoped aloud that one task would be to write and perform an entire play, for god’s sake. If you knew anything about Sam up to this point, you might have got the feeling that Sam would possibly perhaps kind of take this task a little too seriously. He took your ‘too seriously’ and laughed in the face of it. He took an entire thesaurus and shoved it up his arse (those gays eh) and spewed out a whole list of words such as “quell”, “moisture” and “rife” – not to mention a reference to Aristotle’s theory of tragedy – in a story book aimed at three-year olds. Compare this to the other team, who wrote a story about a bee whilst not entirely convinced of the ins-and-outs of the creation of honey themselves. Sam put his hands up and took the flack for the failure of the task in the boardroom, in which Lordsugar compared his book to War and Peace (…) and Karren likened the process to “writing the sequel to King Lear” (again, …). It’s a good thing that Natalie had a snottydink that day or else Sam would have been out of the door faster than you could say “rufflebottom shoes”. I’m aware this write-up is far too long for its own good but I’d also like to mention his amazing friendship with Elle (her having to make sense of his philosophical ramblings that mildly resembled a plot whilst sat in the middle of a library wearing a tiara <3 Them actually writing a children’s book together after the show <3) and the fact that he didn’t really have much to do after that episode, except moan that they actually had to clean the football stadium that they’d agreed to clean and get fired the week afterwards for not selling nothing. Farewell, my sweet prince.

The term “gamebot” seems to be thrown around a lot in regards to Ciera, but that’s probably more my selective hearing and my not-reading-much-about-Survivor-and-mixing-stuff-up than anything. Still, girl done quite good, successfully breaking up the majority alliance and helping to orchestrate two blindsides. She finished 10th, but that’s not bad when you consider there were more competitors in Survivor: Cambodia than there are in this bloody ranking.

George was in a good position coming into this year’s I’m a Celebrity – young, good-looking, fresh out of a boyband with a guaranteed fan base to vote for him. It’s no wonder he came second. In reality, I can’t remember a great deal of what he actually did in the jungle, other than have a bit of a flirt with Ferne and have a bit of a cry with Auntie Susannah. Still, I’m sure there was a bildungsroman storyline in there somewhere. Or at least, there was supposed to be.

He was good in the house (admittedly an attention seeker on the outside), where as I didn't get the James love at all, oh well  Dame Edna was robbed though yall
